Broward County, Florida: Electronic voting machine glitches were reported shortly after opening, causing brief delays and some voters to be temporarily turned away. Independent researchers from the University of Washington’s Center for an Informed Public noted that real, isolated operational glitches were immediately seized upon online and placed into “conspiratorial framing”. 

Apart from hardware glitches, the primary source of targeted “cheating” accusations stemmed from a highly competitive U.S. Senate race in Alaska. Republican Senator Dan Sullivan accused his Democratic opponent, Mary Peltola, of executing a “major election cheating scandal”. An investigation originally detailed by The New York Times reported that Democratic operatives connected to the campaign recruited a political novice named Daniel J. Sullivan to run in the same race. Senator Sullivan argued the move was designed to siphoning votes away from him by intentionally confusing voters. Peltola denied any personal involvement or knowledge of the plot. A federal judge rejected a preemptive legal challenge by President Donald Trump to halt the election results. However, the U.S. Department of Justice has launched a criminal investigation into the orchestration of the candidate’s entry, issuing roughly 20 target letters to individuals involved.
