Israeli Drug Company Agrees to Pay $27.6 Million for pushing U.S. Psychiatrist’s Prescribing of Antipsychotic Drug (It's called Bribery)

Vatic Note:   Now here is a Doctor and a Drug Co, whose Head of the company should both be thrown in jail for fraud or better yet, bribery to harm another, because that is what it was in reality.  etc.   A felony with serious jail time and the rest of the drug companies would get the message, very doggone quick. Our drug companies have changed dramatically over the past 2 decades and are now responsible for more deaths in America than car accidents.   So, if guns are proposed being banned, then so should they ban legal drugs.

I can’t believe what we are allowing to go un-prosecuted and unpunished.  If the system continues to fail at every turn and at every level, then we the people, will have to do as our founding fathers said we would have to do.  Create our own justice system and enforce it.  We the people outnumber them 100 or more to 1.

The penalty they paid was just another bribery pay off since they did not have to plead guilty. And that penalty is a drop in the bucket compared to their profits.  I am sure they felt it was worth it.  But then that mentality has invaded our country and our corporations and Israel is trying to make us in “her image and likeness” rather than in Gods image and likeness.    So the perp goes free to continue promoting that very dangerous drug without any accountability for knowing they are harming others who would take that drug, and we might as well throw the FDA in there with them.

They approved a drug that can kill people with their side affects, so every person who dies from the side affects, should then be added to charges of mass murder with a life sentence for the policy makers within and without the company.  Anyone else have any suggestions on what we can do outside the system that is has taken a hike and is absent from our lives, at almost every level?  Once a system completely fails, then its up to us to create a new one based on Justice and mercy, if needed.  Well, I think its needed now.   These corporate crimes and gov aiding and abetting such crimes, must be punished and justice must be served.

An Illinois doctor who had become notorious for overprescribing a powerful antipsychotic medication was paid to push the drug by its Israeli manufacturer, according government prosecutors who have settled the case out of court.

Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. has agreed to pay more than $27.6 million to settle allegations that it provided Chicago psychiatrist Michael Reinstein with financial incentives to prescribe clozapine to patients.

Clozapine [also known as Clozaril] can cause serious side effects, including seizures, heart-muscle inflammation and a reduction in white blood cells.
Reinstein was found to have prescribed more clozapine to patients in Medicaid’s Illinois program than all of the doctors in the Medicaid programs of Texas, Florida and North Carolina combined, according to ProPublica.

The investigative news website also reported that Reinstein had prescribed the drug to Medicare patients, despite the risks clozapine poses to the elderly.
At least three of the doctor’s patients died of clozapine intoxication.

Medicare had continued to allow Reinstein to prescribe even after Illinois’ Medicaid program suspended payments to the doctor and federal prosecutors accused him of fraud.

The settlement reached between a Teva Pharmaceuticals subsidiary, IVAX, and Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan and the U.S. Justice Department will result in $15.5 million going to the federal government and more than $12.1 million paid to Illinois.

“Pharmaceutical companies must not be allowed to improperly influence physicians’ decisions in prescribing medication for their patients,” Zachary Fardon, U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois, said in a statement. “Instead, those decisions must be made solely on the basis of the patient’s best medical interests.”

The drug maker did not have to admit to any liability as part of the deal.
The settlement did not resolve a 2012 lawsuit filed by federal prosecutors against Reinstein that accuses IVAX of paying him $50,000 a year to work as a consultant, paying his nurse to promote clozapine, and funding a study at an affiliated research institute. That case is still ongoing.
