HAPPINESS BUSINESS LAUNCHES NEW INITIATIVE

IN HONOR OF MILITARY FAMILIES

(July 21, 2010 ~ HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif.) –  My Memory Catcher, a happiness historian service that helps people focus on and chronicle the good news in their lives, announced this month the launching of “Semper Remember” – a humanitarian movement to heighten happiness within military households and to help them to “always remember” the happiest of moments.

The initiative was launched during July as a way of thanking service men and women for the sacrifice they and their families have made and continue to make every day to preserve people’s freedoms.  As part of the initiative, My Memory Catcher representatives will meet with military personnel and their families at Southern California based military bases to decide how best to tailor the happiness historian service to meet the unique needs of military families. A special complimentary “Power of Happy Memories” workshop will also be offered to all military family members, and a highly reduced pricing structure for memory catching services will go into effect by the end of July.

“We know that remembering, reliving, and retelling stories about happy moments is a very healthy process,” shared Keri Gee Semmelman, an award winning PR go-getter who founded My Memory Catcher. “We also know that wartime deployment can be a strenuous time within families, and those serving overseas miss a lot of the precious once-in-a-lifetime moments that occur back home even if spouses share bits and pieces of the stories with their loved one overseas.”

The guiding question that My Memory Catcher has long asked people is “Who couldn’t use more happiness?” In response to the overwhelming desire by people to have more good news around them, My Memory Catcher began serving parents, grandparents, individuals, and pet lovers since last year. Named in June 2010 by Entrepreneur Magazine as one of the top 100 businesses to watch, My Memory Catcher is committed to expanding its services to military families as quickly as possible.

Through observations of a loved one over a 3, 6 ½, or 12 month time span, joyful and funny moments are recalled through phone interviews with specially trained Happiness Historians. A happiness hotline and other memory catching tools are also made available throughout the process. The result is a story-packed journal and an array of personalized gift items full of stories featuring the depth and splendor of everyday moments recounting clever sayings, lessons learned, and hilarious encounters of a loved one – possibly of a parent spotlighting the moments leading up to and through a child’s first-ever participation in a school play – for a serviceman or woman to read in detail upon return and to cherish for a lifetime.

With 38,000 family members of active ready-to-deploy troops living in the community on San Diego’s Camp Pendleton, My Memory Catcher is committed to doing whatever it can to help raise spirits for returning or deployed troops as well as for their families.

“I think having a happiness historian would be very beneficial because you miss a lot while deployed,” said Rudy Espinoza, Platoon Sergeant, CLR-17 Motor Transport Platoon, 1st Marine Logistics Group. “It’s not that I’m worried about me (when deployed), I’m worried about my family and everything that I’m going to miss,” added the father of two young girls.

Helping lead the initiative is My Memory Catcher’s college intern Jaime R. Bravo, Jr., a former Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps who soon will earn his public relations degree from California State University, Fullerton. During Bravo’s four years on duty, he led humanitarian operations in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and in so doing earned numerous medals and a Presidential Unit Citation. Bravo knows first-hand how valuable the happiness historian service can be to military families.
