13 December 2011 – As the social media trend continues unabated, the Internet marketing industry’s movers and shakers are increasingly incorporating social validation and significance to their overall businesses.

Search engine giant Google, while still recovering from a lukewarm public interest in G+ after its launch, is still planning on how to use social media more to make the end user experience more valuable for their customers. Yahoo is taking some steps in the same and arguably right direction as well, as are other sites with a lot at stake in the Internet marketing industry.

And when the major stakeholders make moves of such magnitude, the many businesses and companies that have invested in their services and business will need to move along with them. Case in point: Google’s incorporation of social validation to search results, most aptly represented by the +1 button.

The +1 button is just the most obvious move and a penultimate decisive step towards making social influence more central to everything in the Web. Even before Facebook and Twitter were household names, however, the biggest search engines were already incorporating how their users interacted with the sites being displayed in search results.

A good example is Google’s approach where when it sees that a user who goes to one website listed in a search result goes back to the search results page immediately, it offers to never show results from that website again. Apparently, if one particular website offers no quality to a particular user, that option of blocking the site from ever popping up in search results again would be convenient for the user, and would spell death for the website in question.

However, this facet is more on user experience and how users interact with websites that show up in search results pages. While it is a significant and implicative concept, social media and validation is an even more focal concept with ramifications that are easily seen. What this means is that if you want to use social media to promote your affiliate product, you need to know how the biggest players in the industry want you to use it.
