Tampa Nonprofit Brings Relief to Clearwater Residents Through Free Laundry Services

Volunteers from Reality Church of Tampa will spend Saturday, Oct. 12, washing the clothes of those less fortunate. The Laundry Project provides an opportunity for community volunteers to help those in need afford a simple, yet often unnoticed common necessity: cleaning and drying their clothes. The project will be held at Fresh Start Coin Laundry, located at 2922 Roosevelt Blvd., Clearwater, FL 33670 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. 

This is the third project that Current of Tampa Bay, Inc. has held in the Clearwater area at the Roosevelt Boulevard location. The last time they facilitated a project, volunteers washed more than 206 loads of laundry for roughly 30 families. 

“It is through continued growth that we are able to reach as many families as we do,” said Jason Sowell, Current’s Founder and President. “We are extremely grateful for the support from community members to make this happen and hope that we can continue to grow our Clearwater project locations in the future.”

To date, the organization has washed and dried the clothing and linen of more than 3,000 families in seven counties in Florida.  
    
Reality Church of Tampa has helped Current raise $200 for Saturday’s project goal of $500. 

Current is seeking donations of quarters (rolls of $10), coloring books, crayons, laundry baskets and bags, bleach, fabric softener and liquid laundry detergent are also always appreciated.
