One of the hardest things to adjust to after graduating from an online certification course is working in the real world. The courses may provide individuals with all the knowledge and skills they need to perform a specific job, but they rarely provide the real life experience needed to do is successfully.

A new interactive Microsoft Office training online course is providing students with the real life experience needed to succeed. The course places students behind the desk of an extremely busy office. The students are required to learn how to juggle phone calls, patients coming in, and using the various Microsoft Office programs all at one time.

“We found that many students understood how to use the programs, but couldn’t do it under pressure”, explained the director and founder of this new interactive course. “That was when we created a simulation that would place them in a real life situation. It requires them to think on their toes and know how to react to things.”

Previously, courses would create ‘what if’ situations. The instructor would place a student in a situation like this and ask them to role play their way out of it. This was moderately successful, but still many students froze in the real world.

“Our main goal is to help students transitions to the real world as best as we can”, explained the director of the program. “We want people to be successful. Yes, this simulation costs a little more than normal, but it really helps.”

Students that have taken part in the simulation that comes with this Microsoft Office training online course have raved about the results. They have said that it makes them feel extremely prepared for the future and what may come in their jobs.

“It was almost like I was really working in an office”, said Sally Vaughn, a student who attended the Microsoft Office online training course. “There were people coming up to me asking questions, phones were ringing, and I had to juggle several screens and Microsoft Office programs. I know that is what I will face in the future, maybe on a slower scale, but it is my future.”

Taking part in the simulation is optional. However, the school estimates that approximately 84% of the students take part in the simulation to help hone their skills and prepare for the future. The school plans on trying to incorporate simulations into other programs in the future.
