The Olympics date back hundreds of years and have long been admired for their ability to allow athletes to show off their superior skills. Unfortunately, due to new popular trends in sports that may be a thing of the past or so some upcoming athletes believe.

“We believe that the Olympics are becoming more and more about popularity and less about talent or ability”, said a young athlete who wished to remain anonymous. “It used to be that competitions and events determined who went to the Olympics each time. A group of young athletes has formed in an effort to raise awareness about this continuing trend. The group formed as a way to show people what is going on in the world of Olympics.

One of the biggest things the group wishes to raise awareness about is the fact that athletes are being forced to turn to social media, SEO techniques, and other marketing efforts to raise awareness for their ‘name’. If there is no awareness raised, their chance of going on to the Olympics could diminish greatly.

“We have found that several up and coming athletes have come to us for help”, said Joan Miller, a director for a Seattle search marketing firm. “It used to be that our clientele were businesses, but there has been a new increase in celebrities and athletes.”
