The New Wave of Sports Events Includes Highlights and Soundtracks from Local Audio Engineering Schools

The past couple of years, students who attended some of the local audio engineering schools were forced to sit in lectures for days on end. Some students would get the opportunity to work in the labs, but most of it was lectures.

“Many students were tired with the lecture setup that we had for our students”, explained the dean of the local audio engineering schools. “We decided to take their feedback to heart and create a classroom structure that included more hands-on training.”

Part of the hands-on training that is being provided by the local audio engineering schools will be offered by some of the major professional sports teams. The major professional sports teams are hiring some of the students as interns and allowing them to create highlights and soundtracks for their events.

“Every sporting event should be a unique experience for the fans that are attending”, explained one of the event managers for a local sports team. “The one way that we do that is with music, highlight reels, and soundtracks that are played at the event.”

The sports teams are giving the students the unique opportunity to not only create the soundtracks, highlights, and music, but to broadcast it and really interact with the fans. Students will be required to learn the ins and outs of broadcasting sound to a large arena. They will also be required to follow fan feedback for the events.

“Broadcasting a song to a crowd of 70,000 is a lot different than broadcasting it to a radio studio or even a theatre of 5,000”, explained the sports manager. “There are people booing and cheering. The acoustics are completely different, which makes it hard for people to hear the songs. It will be a real challenge.”

The opportunity to work with the sports teams will only be available to students that are considered in their final year at the audio engineering schools. This allows the students to gain the experience and knowledge they need to succeed at this type of project.

“It really will be a fun and unique opportunity for our students”, said the dean. “We are hoping that this partnership lasts a while, because it really will be fun for the students at hand.”

Students will have the opportunity to sign up for this unique sports-centric project starting in March. The program will then begin in August and last until the end of the season for the sports team.
