World's Most Popular Mall Santa Contest Launched by Local Search Marketing Seattle Firm

Mall Santas – those helpful little helpers of the ‘real’ Santa’ – have a huge following. Locals always swear that they have the best, most realistic Santa at their mall. There was never a way to determine who was the most popular was or most authentic mall Santa – until now.

“We have decided to use some of our advanced search marketing tools and equipment to help people determine who the most popular and authentic mall Santa is”, said Jamie James, a marketing director for a local search marketing Seattle firm. “We thought it would be a fun and exciting contest and so far it has proven to be just that and then some.”

The local search marketing firms have asked each mall that wishes to take part in the contest to create a website. That website must be dedicated specifically to the mall Santa and use white hat marketing techniques to rank highly in search engine results.

“The page that ranks highest at the end of the contest is the one that is the most popular”, said James. “We will also use a number of other tools to determine popularity. Keyword searches, shares, and link sharing are all things we can use to determine this factor.”

Search marketing firms often use these tools to show clients how their website is improving in search engine ranks. The tools in this case will be used to determine the winner of the contest.

“It will be interesting to be able to use these tools for fun”, said Frank Till, a marketing expert for the local search marketing Seattle firm. “We have fun doing what we do, but this is just so much fun and out of the box that it feels exciting.”

The winning Santa will receive a plague and a statue. The mall will also be able to pick a charity to donate the winnings to, as the winning Santa will receive over $10,000. The money was donated by the search marketing Seattle firm and several other local businesses.

“The goal of this is to have fun, yes, but it is also to educate people on how search marketing works“, explained Till. “So many people are confused about how it works that we decided to make a game out of it. This is what people are using to educate themselves and it is sort of creative if you think about it.”

The contest will run until sometime in March. People have been asked for the past month to share their Santa’s page, take videos and photos, and just spread the word. There is currently no word on the rankings of the Santas at the moment or how many people are competing in this content.
