Truth About U.S. Torture Toolkit Offer

 
Dear Friends,

We invite you, and your local church, synagogue, mosque, temple, or faith community, to join other people of faith in commemorating Torture Awareness Month this June. NRCAT is preparing a Toolkit to help local congregations, campus ministries, and other religious organizations observe the month through worship, educational and/or advocacy activities.  

This year’s theme for our Toolkit is “Exposing the Truth of U.S. Torture: Restoring Human Dignity”.  Sign-up for the free Toolkit today and in mid-April we will deliver it to your inbox.

NRCAT’s Torture Awareness Month Toolkit will include:

• Ideas for commemorating Torture Awareness Month
• Background factsheets
• Educational resources (such as screening the “No Doubt, It was Torture” DVD)
• A bulletin insert
• Links to worship resources
• An action item for your congregation/faith group
• A downloadable poster

Our resources will include a focus on next steps on the Senate Intelligence Committee’s report on CIA torture.  We hope the Committee will vote in the coming weeks to make public its report on its investigation of the CIA’s detention and interrogation program. Once made public, the information contained in the report will provide the most extensive official accounting of why and how torture happened.  Whether or not the committee votes to release the report now, we will need your voice and the voice of your community in June to ensure that torture is never again used as an interrogation technique.
