Naples Man Sues Village Walk Homeowners Association

NAPLES (MMD Newswire) November 17, 2014 — The Board of Directors at Village Walk of Naples, a gated community of 850 homes located on Vanderbilt Beach Road in Naples are being sued by homeowner Greg Chumbley, a resident since 2013.According to Chumbley, he was prompted to file suit in Collier County because the Board of Directors steadfastly refuses to reveal the gross annual salaries of its eight employees, which include the Town Manager, Administrive Assistant, Activities Director, and five maintenance workers.

According to the complaint filed on October 21st, the Association’s Board of Directors failed to disclose information requested by Chumbley which is required to be disclosed under Florida law upon request by the homeowner. “Section 720.303(5)(c)(3) of the Florida statutes,” say Chumbley, “entitles me to copies of any and all budgetary or financial records that indicate the compensation paid to our eight Association employees.” Despite concerns by the homeowners over the how publicy generated by the lawsuit could affect home sales and home values within the 20-year old community, they have been unsuccessful in persuading the Board of Directors to reveal the gross annual salaries of the Association’s eight employees to Chumbley, who says that he has also requested a number of other documents which the Board aslo refuses to hand over. A hearing is set for December 1st at the Collier County Government Complex in downtown Naples.
