Dunwoody Apartment Communities to Offer EV Charging Stations

DUNWOODY, Georgia (MMD Newswire) July 23, 2015 — On Saturday, July 25 from 10:00 a.m. to noon at The Drexel Atlanta apartment community, The Worthing Companies will unveil their brand new electric vehicle charging stations during a kick-off event. Representatives from BMW, Nissan and Tesla will be present to display their electric vehicles and answer questions.

In an ongoing effort to satisfy the growing environmental concerns of today’s residents in the evolving multifamily housing market in Atlanta, The Worthing Companies have contracted with EnviroSpark Energy Solutions of Atlanta to install Level 2, dual-port electric vehicle charging stations at three of their Dunwoody communities: The Lofts at Perimeter Center, The Drexel Atlanta and The Heights Perimeter Center (known in the area as ‘Perimeter Village’). Each property installed a station within their individual parking structures. The stations will allow residents and their guests to fully charge their vehicles in 3 to 4 hours. Residents will utilize a smart phone app that will notify them when vehicles near their charge capacity.

Vehicle charging stations are a progressive and desirable amenity for Atlantans. The city recently emerged as the second leading United States metropolitan market for electric vehicle sales, according to researcher IHS Automotive. Georgia offers lucrative incentives and benefits to electric vehicle owners. The state provides more than $4,000 in income tax credits, on average, when purchasing an electric vehicle, cut-rate electricity, employer support of recharging stations and, in Atlanta, access to high-occupancy vehicle lanes.
