Cover Story: Style & Grace (p. 106)

Grace Gealey opens up about her iconic on-screen brawl with Empire co-star, Taraji P. Henson (who plays Cookie Lyon): “It’s something the audience had been waiting to see from the very first episode and to finally give that to them was great. We had a blast shooting the scene and I was psyched to even do some of the stunts, like reacting to Cookie’s punch and flipping onto the pool table!”

Cover Story: The Golden Age (p. 114)

Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials star Katherine McNamara says she would like to focus on her music career as well: “I have some songs in the can, and I want people to hear them, but it’s all about finding the time to write and record and shoot music videos in between everything else.”

Karrueche Tran says she never thought she could pursue modeling seriously, but since she never gave up, it happened: “I was always interested in modeling from my earlier years. I was approached at different times for modeling gigs, but I never thought that would be a career for me because I’m only 5’1″.”

Empire star Serayah McNeill opens up about appearing in Taylor Swift’s music video for “Bad Blood”: “My first thought was that it was going to be absolutely epic, not just because of the cast that was in it, but because it was just so fun and just so cinematic.”

Power and Music (p. 78)

Naturi Naughton, who stars in the hit Starz drama Power, says she wants to return to theatre more than anything: “One of my real passions is also to get back on Broadway and on the stage again. Fame was an opportunity to do that in a movie. Hairspray was one of the best experiences in my life.”

Of the Aug/Sept issue, she said, “We tried to capture the final days of summer, while also getting you to think ahead [to the fall].” Of interviewing cover star Grace Gealey herself, she said, “Although I was a few episodes late to the Empire craze, it was Gealey’s character I resonated with the most (and by “resonate” I mean fell in love with her wardrobe).”
