Murder On Broadway, The Second Book In Sondra Luger’s Mystery Series Blends Fact With Fiction

Fort Lauderdale, FL (MMD Newswire) October 28, 2015 — Look up “fashion” on Google, and you’ll get almost two billion webpages; “fashion celebrities” will serve up 197 million. But it wasn’t always so.

Once, the fashion industry, while affecting most people indirectly, only fostered a small pool of high profile designers, two of whom feature in Sondra Lugar’s, Murder on Broadway, set in 1928 New York City during the Jazz Age and the Roaring Twenties.

In Murder on Broadway, the second book in Sondra Luger’s mystery series, amateur detective duo Lily Ann Chasen and Tenisha Jones, models at fictitious Bernard Singer Couture, find themselves in the middle of another murder investigation. They must cope with an acclaimed actress who fears for her life, her philandering husband who wants a divorce, and an irate Police Inspector Kirk, who wants the meddlesome duo out of his hair. In addition, two fashion icons of the time, Elsa Schiaparelli, clothing designer, and Lilly Daché, famed milliner, are soon entangled in the plot, and stepping out of a major role in Luger’s first murder mystery, Drop Me Off in Harlem, is cosmetics heiress and patron of the arts A’lelia Walker, who makes an encore appearance. She was the granddaughter of slaves and the daughter of Madam C.J. Walker, America’s first, self-made female millionaire.

The 1920s was an exciting period for women and fashion, and Sondra Luger blends fact with fiction in Murder on Broadway.

Sondra Luger taught English in a New York City high school. She has a website with her sister, singer and songwriter, Carolyn Luger, at www.lugerlandarts.com.
