Daleela G. Dodge, MD, general surgeon at Lancaster General Health Physicians Surgical Group, and affiliated with Lancaster General Hospital has been named a 2015 Top Doctor in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Dr. Daleela G. Dodge is a highly experienced surgeon with 28 years in practice. Her life in medicine began in 1981, when she graduated from the accelerated RPI/Albany Medical College 6-year biomedical program. She remained at Albany Medical Center for the first two years of her surgical residency, which was then completed at The University of Texas Health Science Center/MD Anderson Cancer Center in 1987. In Houston, she also spent a year performing cancer immunology research. After completing her training, Dr Dodge joined the faculty at Penn State Hershey Medical Center as an Assistant Professor of Surgery. In 1988, Dr. Dodge entered private practice in Lancaster.

Throughout the years of training in New York and Texas and many years in practice, Dr. Dodge has gained a wide range of experience in a broad spectrum of surgical practice. More recently, she has concentrated her practice around her primary focus of oncology, serving on the physician Oncology Leadership Team for the recently opened Ann B Barshinger Cancer Institute, with responsibility for quality metrics. Among the conditions she treats are appendicitis, gallbladder disease, hyperparathyroidism and hernias. Primarily, however, Dr. Dodge is an expert in surgical oncology, especially in breast and thyroid surgery. She treats many kinds of cancer, as well as performing oncoplastic surgical breast procedures that allow more women to successfully have breast conserving cancer surgery. Thanks to her expertise in these areas, Dr. Dodge served for 15 years as the Chief of General Surgery and is the Medical Director of Breast Services for Lancaster General Health.

Dr. Dodge feels that after several decades in practice, her love of being a surgeon remains as strong as ever. She is inspired on a daily basis by the courage that her patients show, and honored by the trust and faith that they and their families put in her. She keeps on top of the latest scientific and technological advances, and is excited by the improved outcomes that these are bringing to the world of cancer treatment especially. When not working, she enjoys volunteering, particularly in cultural and arts based organizations.
