Success Academy to host public ribbon cutting ceremony with South Bend Mayor Buttigieg and Indiana Governor Mike Pence

SOUTH BEND, IN (MMD Newswire) February 29, 2016 — To commemorate the opening of the new Success Academy, a tuition-free K-6th grade public charter school focused on STEM education (science, technology, engineering, and math), a ribbon cutting ceremony has been announced for Tuesday, March 1st, 2016 at 2:30pm EST.

The ceremony will showcase the opening of the school and local partnerships with organizations impacting the youth in South Bend. Guest speakers include Honeywell South Bend Site Leader Dean Palmer, South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg, and Indiana Governor Mike Pence. The Success Academy is located at 3408 Ardmore Trail in South Bend, just south of the South Bend Regional Airport.

“We believe tuition-free, high-quality education is incredibly important for our youth,” said Superintendent Paul Schlottman. “They are the leaders of not only tomorrow, but today. Our students are impacting their communities each and every day. We want to do everything we can to empower and equip students to change the world.”

In addition to the ribbon cutting of the school, a powerful partnership between Honeywell and the Success Academy is being revealed. “The Honeywell South Bend Site is excited to be partnering with the Success Academy to promote education focused on STEM principles and interactive learning,” said Dean Palmer, site leader for the Honeywell South Bend facility. “For over 95 years, we have been proud to employ some of the area’s brightest minds; through Honeywell Hometown Solutions, our corporate citizenship program, we are pleased to support Success Academy with the donation of a Honeywell MakerSpace. We now have a chance to help develop the next generation of Wheels, Brakes and Fuel Control engineers and Skilled Trades employees to ensure this facility is still providing meaningful jobs in the area for many generations to come.”

Guests of the Success Academy ribbon cutting ceremony will enjoy music performed by the Success Academy choir and the Career Academy band. After listening to the guest speakers share their remarks, guests are invited to take guided tours of the campus to see how students are interacting with technology day-to-day and learning real world skills.

Career Academy was founded in 2011 and has grown to serve students in grades 7-12. Success Academy is the elementary campus of Career Academy, serving students in grades K-6.
