Newcastle, NSW, Australia (MMD Newswire) May 17, 2016 — This week sees the opening of a new option for families arranging funerals for their loved ones.

Funeral directors are now able to offer their clients an A-B-C choice, Aquamation, Burial or Cremation.

Newcastle Aquamation Centre commences offering their service from 18th May.

Aquamation, sometimes called “water-cremation” is a natural, ethical and environmentally friendly alternative. It uses water instead of fire to return a body to nature. The process is the same as the natural way in which a human (or animal) returns to nature if buried without a coffin in topsoil, or placed in a flowing stream of water. The same natural breakdown of tissue occurs with Aquamation just at a faster rate.

People often say when discussing their funeral “I just wish there was some other way”. Aquamation now provides that other way. And it only costs a little bit more than cremation.

A poll conducted by The Sydney Morning Herald showed 68% of those surveyed would consider Aquamation.

The process has been hailed by environmentalists and governments keen to reduce pollution from cremation, and to take pressure off the problem of finding suitable land for new cemeteries.

Another benefit is that “pacemakers” do not need to be removed and titanium hip implants can be re-used as they remain intact and sterile. Jewellery can also be recovered.

In the same way that bones are returned as ashes after a cremation, the bones will still be returned to the family as ashes after Aquamation.

Aquamation trials have taken place in NSW after the Government changed the law to give people this option. After extensive research and development, the Aquamation International team of engineers and biochemists have further optimised and simplified the process.
