Why the Bible? Why Christianity?

“The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God endures forever.” -Is. 40:8

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. … -Jn 1:1-3

Throughout history the Bible has withstood the most severe scrutiny, persecution, attempted destruction, attempted rebuke, yet the Word has endured and been preserved just as the Lord promised. The majority of unbelievers are either ignorant of the Bible, meaning they have not even for the least studied the attacks and claims they make against it by actually reading the Bible, nor have they studied the history or the scientific evidence that rebukes their claims, or have simply put the prideful veil over their eyes in denial of clear truth.

If you are not convinced of the Bible’s authenticity as the true “inspired word of the one true God,” consider that is the only “sacred text” of prophecy and that ~33% of the book is prophecy (many scholars would even say up to ~66-75%, I tend to agree with this range), that every prophecy has come true to date and that every claim in the Bible can be defended. Yes, there is evidence of the global flood. Yes, there is a scientific explanation for the longevity of man before the flood. Yes, there is scientific, physical proof of a young earth and that man walked with “dinosaurs.” While the other texts have historical mistakes, the Bible has none. Yes, the remains of cities like Sodom and Gamorrah have been found, chariot wheels and articles of the Pharaoh’s army have been found in the Red Sea, the rock that Moses struck has been found, etc. There are no grammatical errors, fallacies, loose ends/ties or contradictions in the entire Bible…pretty hard to do with ~40 different authors of the 66 books. The other “sacred texts” have contradictions, fallacies and errors, unfulfilled prophecies and clear plagiarism from the Bible. 

“Well, man wrote the bible and has self-fulfilled the prophecies.” This is absolutely, 100% impossible and anyone who has ever made this assertion I guarantee has not studied the Scriptures and is very much ignorant of the extremely minute details that had to occur before and at the time of the Messiah Jesus’ birth, to be crucified at the time he was, the extremely minute details of his crucifixion, who crucified him, where he was crucified, how he was crucified, why he was crucified, what happened during the crucifixion, among so many other complex prophecies one cannot just “make up” and self-fulfill.  Also, we can’t forget the many witnesses of his resurrection, not just the ~500 people then, but the witness of resurrection that is carried today in the born-again believer’s heart. The resurrection of so many who have full out denied, swore against, waged war against, persecuted the followers of and blasphemed the God of the Bible, or adamantly followed other “faiths,” to be suddenly converted, resurrected from the grave with Christ to a completely new life… 

Now what you are seeing play out before our eyes today was in complex detail prophesied between the times of ~2,000 B.C. to 95A.D. The Jews scattered across the world from their land a couple thousand years ago; the Jews being returned to their land, Israel as a state again in 1948; Jerusalem becoming the capital in 1967; the state of Israel STILL standing even against the most severe persecution; Jerusalem becoming a “cup of trembling (Zech 12:2),” as prophesied; all the moves being worked out for war in the middle east against Israel (Ps 83, Ez 38 & 39); the “peace” process being worked out to divide Israel; the covenant being worked out so that the Jews may have their Temple rebuilt on the Temple Mount (Dan 9:27); the Isaiah 17 & 19 prophecies concerning the current unrest in Syria, seemingly imminent destruction of Damascus, and civil war in Egypt (including the wasting and drying up of the Nile). Can’t forget the false prophets and false Christs rising up worldwide, the Jews’ increasingly receiving dreams and visions, the increasing iniquity and sin of man, lack of morale and godliness, good being called evil and evil called good, increasing persecution and hatred towards Biblical Christianity, rise in postmodernism (“relative truths;” you choose what you believe to be true, good, evil and love, rather than the universal absolute truth which IS recorded in Bible and even more simply recorded in your conscience) , rapid increase in technology, rapid increase in knowledge of prophecy, false gospels in the church, increase in ecumenicism/uniting of religion or joining of religions, increase of taking the Lord’s name in vain (proclaiming Christ as Lord yet not bearing the evidence or fruit of it), earth travail, sun travail, fish and bird die offs in concurrence with the travails, worldwide economic collapse, scoffing at the return of Jesus increasing…just to name a few, all prophesied in the Bible.

Even removed from the DEEP spiritual context of Scripture, most secular philosophers agree that the philosophical content alone of the “Pauline” letters, Epistles, Proverbs, etc., and words spoken by Jesus Christ are unmatched and above any level of philosophy spoken outside of the Bible. 

Also, if you deny the spiritual powers at work in the world, if you deny witches, wizardry, enchantment/blood mantras and spells, witch-doctors, necromancy, divination, spirit channeling, out-of-body experiences, astral projection, seancing, demonic possession, etc., you have a strong spiritual blindness or are protecting yourself from the truth. These things are VERY much, and strongly at work in our world. Materialism is itself a lie and deception created by Satan. (Deuteronomy 18)

Some things to question: Why is the name “Jesus Christ” the center of so much controversy? Why do the religions of Islam, Mormon, New Age and Freemasonry, born WELL after the resurrection of Jesus, include the person/returning of Jesus (though denying his deity and being Savior of the world) in their teachings? Why is his name used worldwide in such a blaspheming sense? Why have there been so many periods, i.e. Catholic inquisition, where the Bible was the object of destruction, to be burned and wiped off the face of the Earth? Why has God’s chosen people the Israelites been the focus of genocide throughout history? Why is “the return of Jesus Christ” so scoffed at? Why is Christianity the center of so much satire in secular media and entertainment today? Why do so many people around the world unapologetically claim to be the reincarnation of Christ (including the false “vicar of Christ/Pope”)? Why do we not see anyone claiming to be the reincarnation of Muhammad? Buddha? Shiva? Vishnu? Joseph Smith? To continually create a counterfeit, their must be an authentic! I don’t see headlines about people running around saying, “check out this fake 6 dollar bill I have (because there obviously is not a real one).”

So, why Christianity over all other religions? The one thing every religion has in common, apart from Christianity, is that they began by believing Satan’s lie, “ye shall surely be as gods,” and were deceived by Satan himself; the dark, fallen angel who “masquerades as an angel of light (2 Corinthians 11:14).” Of the salvation doctrines of all “religions,” Christianity is the only one of Divine accomplishment, God-centered. Apart from Biblical Christianity, salvation in all religions is man-centered; by sacraments, law-keeping, good deeds or righteous acts to EARN salvation (including the false gospels of Christ such as: Jehovas Witness, Mormon LDS, Christian Science, 7th-day Advents, Heb-Roots, Roman Catholicism, etc). All mankind has an innate (from birth) self-centered, lust seeking, prideful sin nature in them, not by social learning and conditioning, but as a result of the first created man’s sin, and is therefore separated from God. Therefore, man has no possible way of satisfying a Holy & Righteous eternal God, leaving those seeking to be justified by these religious practices unjustified…leading to hell. God came in the flesh as the Son Jesus Christ, by virgin birth, not born of man’s corrupted seed, and perfectly, sinlessly submitted to the Father, being the Divine accomplishment of salvation for those who truly see their depravity & sinful rebellion to God, that they have no righteous works to offer nor can gain favor in any way, and accept by faith alone not works, Christ’s full atonement to save them…restoring communion with our God. The spirit behind the denial of the one true Triune God of the Bible is that of not wanting to be held accountable for their life in the flesh, and to remain in sin without the burden of guilt. He finished ALL the work and will do all the work in the born again, Bible-believing, true believers life. Jesus carried out the salvation that we will and have all constantly failed at, so that we don’t have to work for it. In every other religion you basically have to lose your soul through tiring and burdensome works (that ultimately lead to hell by rejection of Christ), while Christ simply says, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light (Matthew 11:28-30).” 

One last thing. All of the “prophets of the other religions” are dead in a grave somewhere…our Messiah LIVES!

(Those who want to write hateful comments, or try to change the minds of “true” Christians, know that you are wasting your time as the true believer is marked with the Holy Spirit within them, keeping them from being deceived or led to astray. Complimentary, those who want to claim they were “once Christians but learned the truth,” clearly were never a Christian to begin with, as “the Lord knows those who are his,” and “no man shall pluck them from my hand.”)
