Hollywood Bible Films and the Coming "New Age"

Seriously, where is the backbone and discernment to defend the word of God today? Where is the REVERANCE toward his word? What makes people, most importantly Christians, think it is okay for God’s holy word and complete revelation of himself to us be used as a tool for money, imagination, recreation, vain entertainment, etc.?! Especially, what makes us think sinful man can recreate the role of Jesus Christ, our perfectly righteous and holy Lord and Savior? We ought to have that kind of reverence towards Jesus to not even attempt or pretend to be him (though yes, those who are saved are being conformed to his image by the work of the Holy Spirit (Rom 8:29); but that is different), nor look to anyone to tell us or show us who he is without doing our own Berean-like study of him. I gotta tell you, when I was truly born again, granted by God a true penitent faith for the first time, I COULD NOT STAND when I would humbly and in deep self-examination take the Lord’s supper, praying and meditating on Jesus’ sacrifice, often on the verge of baby-like bawling, yet have the image of Jim Caviezel (Passion of the Christ) in my head! Ahhh. Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for faith and spirituality movies, i.e. God’s Not Dead, Genesis Code, Fireproof…A Walk to Remember (ha); but when it comes to my Lord and Savior, I want HIS WORD to show me who he is, not fallible, sinful man, and I don’t want the image, that you better believe can become and often is a stumbling block of idolatry for many, to be plastered in my brain. THAT. MAN. IS. NOT. JESUS. No graven image, no likeness of heaven above/earth below, NO SIMILITUDE…right? If there is one mistake, which obviously there WILL be considering “the heart is deceitful above all things…-Jer 17.9” and constantly pumping out sin, even those sins that we are mostly ignorant and unaware of, in these Jesus/gospel movies in the character of Jesus – which though I have not seen I was obsessed with reading and listening to accounts of strong, discerning and faithful to the word of God Christian’s about the utter blatant and heretical twisting of Jesus in “Son of God” – then you are witnessing blasphemy, I do not care how you want to twist it. Has the bible become that boring, oldschool and/or “relative/subjective” that we have to appeal to the people who simply don’t want to blow the dust off theirs by: putting it on the big screen? By twisting it to fit a postmodern world? By using apocrypha to “fill in the gaps”? Or is it a reflection of our hedonistic, self-centered, backwards view of sin (even sin-justifying, excuse making) society? Or is it just the work of the Enemy? Pretty sure all of the above. Matthew Henry said, “Considering how many temptations we are compassed with, and what corrupt desires we have in our bosoms, we have great need to keep our hearts with all diligence. Those cannot walk aright, who walk carelessly.” Be vigilant.

I have heard a lot of excuses for supporting these ridiculous and very much intentional attacks on the Bible in the agenda of Hollywood to pour out movies on biblical stories that has been today’s attraction and will continue to be through 2014, and 2015…well, as long as time allows. These directors, like the Spiritualists/New Agers of the Son of God movie (including people like Oprah Winfrey, if that is not a red flag enough, who is New Age to the core, openly promoting the film), and the atheists of Noah, are not “trying to be accurate” to the Bible, and of course certainly not trying to draw people to gospel; and this is not just about hopping on the money train because of the knowledge that the emotional attachment to biblical stories will surely draw a crowd. And as these movies are FULL of errors, twists, omissions, additions, etc., it’s not like they are just ignorant and making simple misunderstandings or mistakes…this is intentional; and if you aren’t awake to the agenda today, the increase, the growing darkness, attack against Christianity and the Bible, ecumenism, you better wake up, because this is all part of the ongoing and increasing spiritual warfare. Do. Not. Forget; the Devil is a MASTER of deception, “Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour -1Pet 5:8.” Read the rest here…
