Biblical prophecy reveals alarming cosmic disturbances that will appear in the sun, moon and stars announcing the return of the messiah. These wonders in the heavens will polarize the inhabitants of the earth. According to the Book of Revelation, the “stars” will fall from the sky but stars cannot fall from the sky because they are too far away for there to be any gravitational influence and even if they weren’t they are more massive than the earth – destroying the righteous as well as the wicked. So, just how is it possible for the cosmic stars to fall from the sky? And could these falling heavenly objects actually be literal?

In Modern Astronomy, a “falling star” or a “shooting star” has nothing at all to do with a star! 

These amazing streaks of light you can sometimes see in the night sky are caused by tiny bits of dust and rock called meteoroids falling into the Earth’s atmosphere and burning up. The short-lived trail of light the burning meteoroid produces is called a meteor. Meteors are commonly called falling stars or shooting stars. If any part of the meteoroid survives burning up and actually hits the Earth, that remaining bit is then called a meteorite.
