Severed Goat Head Discovered Again in Brooklyn Park

PROSPECT HEIGHTS — A woman out walking her dog discovered a severed animal head in Dr. Ronald McNair Park on Thursday afternoon — a year after making a similar grisly find in the same spot.

Julie Reinken, 45, was with her mutt Maisy in the park off Eastern Parkway near Classon Avenue about 2:15 p.m. when she saw what appeared to be a baby goat head on the ground at the base of a tree.

The animal skull, which was still covered in fur, was circled with twine and lay next to a clay plate full of a white-ish substance. Three feathers were stuck in the unidentifiable muck on the plate.

“It’s disgusting,” Reinken said. “I’m getting sick of this.”

On March 5, 2014 — just days after a severed goat head was discovered in Prospect Park — Reinken found two rooster heads at the same spot in McNair Park while she was out for a stroll with her then 2-year-old son and dog.

“I’m mad at these people doing this,” Reinken said. “They have no business doing this in a public park. It’s somebody’s version of a religious sacrifice. Keep that in church or in your own backyard. There are kids everywhere in this neighborhood.”

A Parks Department spokeswoman said residents should report the discovery of animal remains to 311.
