God leaves no doubt that Babylon falls twice…the first time {Revelation 14:8, 16:1-11} is now history: “General Berthier (under the command of Napoleon Bonaparte) marched to Rome, entered it unopposed on 10 February 1798, and, proclaiming a Roman Republic, demanded of the pope the renunciation of his temporal authority. Upon his refusal he was taken prisoner, and on 20 February was escorted from the Vatican in irons. Within ten days Pius VI had been dethroned, imprisoned, exiled, his private library confiscated, his state given up to plunder, and his subjects to military control.
