I believe St. Malachi’s prophecy foretells the Popes ?(and anti-popes) before the end of this age. This age will end in a purgation of fire where a third of the Earth will be burnt up (Rev 8:7). Afterwards there will be more Popes.
I don’t think they need to worry about the “last pope” as much as they need to address and fix the out of control child abuse by predatory priests.
