People need to stop taking passages in the Bibke and proclaim them as being fulfilled today when those passages are totally taken out of context and have no meaning for today. This is a perfect example. An author finds a passage that seems parallel to events that are current and then applies them together. It’s just like the so called numerology in Scripture. Maybe if the biblical numerologist find an event BEFORE it happens and accurately predict said event more gravity would be given to their claims but in the end they look silly as they should. This is the same issue though backwards. Rebuilding the wall in Jerusalem at their return is a story, not a prophecy.

While I am not saying that Israel was perfectly blameless, or that Babylon was perfectly evil, I feel that Mystery Babylon is an anti-type of Israel, or a replacement, or a pretender, perhaps contributing to the prophetic similarities.
