So many times in our lives we forget things. We forget where we put our keys, forget anniversary’s or birthday’s. There are many times that I have walked into a room and forgotten what I go in it for. I know for me though, the most important thing that I forget, is to be thankful to God for all He has blessed me with. I have not been the best Christian in my life, but I know that God is forgiving. Lord knows that He has been with me many times.

Growing up in the South, we were taught many things. Respect your elders, say yes ma’am and no ma’am, yes sir and no sir. Trust me in my home you had better do these things, or there would be major consequences. We were to always say our prayers at night, before we sat down to eat, and to always put our trust in God.

As I grew older, my respect for God became stronger. For He knew the trials and tribulations I had been through in my life. He was always there, always forgiving and understanding. For He loved me no matter what I had done in life, and there is a lot I have done that I didn’t feel that I deserved His forgiveness for. Yet, I still pray, still thank Him for all my many blessings, and challenges that life throws my way. Although there have been times that I forgotten to thank Him, and forgotten to pray. I know that my God is a powerful, all forgiving God. The Bible says to pray without ceasing, and I have found myself doing just that many times. Whether it be in the shower, in my car, or just speaking from my heart outloud no matter where I may be.

We must remember that none of us are perfect. God did create us in His own image, but He did not create us to be perfect. Only one man that has ever walked this Earth had that job, and that was His son Jesus Christ. All I know is, that through all my triumphs, through all my failures, my trials and tribulations in life, I still continue to thank God. For without Him, I do not know where I would be today. God made the ultimate sacrifice for us all, when He sent His only son Jesus to die on that cross to wash away all of our sins. So why is it so easy to forget to thank Him for all He does in our lives? Perhaps it is because we are only human, and as I said before, we are definitely not perfect.

For we are sinners, not saints.
