Your article is medically incorrect. You do not need a Hyoid bone to speak. There is a medical procedure used by ear nose and throat surgeons that involves removing the Hyoid bone by cutting it out. This is done to reach the root of a thyroglossal duct cyst so it can be cauterized. So you do not need a hyoid bone to speak, at least I haven’t for the past 25 years.
