You must not be reading the Bible. The Bible clearly and plainly states it. Just one example:
Job 33:23-24:
If there be a messenger with him, an interpreter, one among a thousand, to shew unto man his uprightness: (Job 33:23)
Then he is gracious unto him, and saith, Deliver him from going down to the pit: I have found a ransom. (Job 33:24)
Which harmonizes PERFECTLY with the words of Jesus Christ. E.g., note the “few” in Matt 7:13-14:

The false teachers and preachers are leading astray the VAST MAJORITY OF CHRISTIANS by saying they are saved by the EZ, broad ways of: sincere sinner’s prayers; or “just believe;” or recite some isolated verse (Rom 10, John 3:16; etc.); or keep sabbath days; or altar calls; and on and on it goes, CONTRADICTING/DENYING the very words of Jesus Christ, that the salvation walk (the NARROW way) is actually very, very DIFFICULT. And that true, Biblical salvation comes ONLY at the END of the narrow way walk.
The false teachers, preachers, and evangelists say you are regenerated/born again at the BEGINNING when you first believe. It is a LIE and they are liars and deceivers, but the Bible tells us that the vast majority of Christians fall for it.
So, yes, the Bible states clearly and plainly that only one in a thousand CHRISTIANS are actually born again. They will not walk the narrow way to the END (to death/Calvary). They say they don’t have to do it. Jesus Christ says otherwise. And this truth harmonizes throughout the entire Bible, both Old Testament and New.
God does not change, but the fake preachers and teachers change/redact the very words of Jesus; JUST AS JESUS WARNED US WOULD HAPPEN, especially in the time of the Laodicean age in which we are now.
Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. (Matt 7:15)
