I visited Yellowstone last Saturday on a day trip. There were visitors there and the parking lots were full with plates from all over the country. There was also light rain throughout the day. I started my way back home at about 5:30 and drove towards the North exit located in Gardiner MT. The rain became very heavy and the river on the side of the road looked like it was starting to spill over the bank. There was also a sole buffalo that running along the side of road that was probably trying to get to higher ground.
The town of Gardiner has 2 rivers running through it, the Yellowstone and the Gardiner. The rivers were swollen and I had a strong feeling that the area would flood. There are many creeks running in the nearby towns and they were also damaged. I live about 150 miles from Yellowstone and the river runs through my town. My town is under flood watch and there has been damage to the properties close to the river. I think that I got out just in time. TheHappyLeper
