5 Ways to Make Prayer Your Super Power

Discussing current events and how they relate to Biblical prophesy. What are some critical signs are pointing to the imminent Rapture of the Church?

Now this is the confidence we have before Him: Whenever we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears whatever we ask, we know that we have what we have asked Him for. (1 John 5:14-15)

Only 45% of Americans say they pray on a daily basis, survey finds Christian Post, October 8, 2020

A new survey conducted by The Presidential Prayer Team reveals that roughly half of Americans pray every day, with more Republicans engaging in daily prayer than Democrats.

The survey panel of over 1,000 adults representative of the United States population was released Tuesday by the Scottsdale, Arizona-based national ministry founded in 2001 to encourage and facilitate prayer for the nation’s president, political leaders and military leaders.

The survey, which looked at the prayer habits of the American public, was conducted in conjunction with the polling firm Braun Research. Respondents were served in April 2020.

According to a summary of the survey, 45% of adults surveyed claimed that they pray every day.

About 65% of adults said that they prayed at least once a week, but not daily.

“Projected across the adult population these statistics estimate that more than 160 million adults pray each week,” a statement from the Presidential Prayer Team explained.

Just 15% of those surveyed said that they never prayed, while the remaining 17% said that they pray irregularly.

The survey concluded that conservatives and moderates were much more likely to pray frequently than their liberal counterparts as 53% of conservatives surveyed said they pray daily.

By comparison, 42% of moderates and 33% of liberals said the same. Additionally, 30% of liberals said that they never prayed, while 14% of moderates and 9% of conservatives said the same.

A majority of all Republicans (55%) pray daily, while roughly 7% of Republicans never pray.

The Power of Prayer

Super powers and prayer are two vastly different concepts, but both are often associated with the idea of achieving extraordinary or miraculous results.

Super powers are typically portrayed as abilities that humans or fictional characters possess that allow them to perform feats beyond the capability of ordinary people. These powers can include superhuman strength, speed, agility, and the ability to fly or teleport.

On the other hand, prayer is a form of communication between humans and God, often with the intention of seeking guidance, strength, or assistance in difficult situations. Prayer is not a physical ability, but rather a spiritual practice that can bring comfort and peace to individuals.

While super powers may seem like an exciting prospect, they are fictional and unattainable in reality.

Prayer, however, is accessible to anyone regardless of their background or circumstances.

Super powers are a fun and entertaining concept in fiction, but prayer is a real and powerful practice that can provide individuals with guidance, comfort, and strength in difficult times.

Here are 5 ways you can make prayer your super power:

.

1. Pray Scripture

This is a great way to start. What joy it brings to a father to know his children hear his words, cherish them, believe them to be true, and then speak them back to him.

Base your prayers on God’s Word:

This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him.” (1 John 5:14-15)

The key to seeing the kind of results God wants you to achieve through prayer is not just shooting random arrows in the air, hoping something might happen. James wrote, “You do not have because you do not ask. You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss” (James 4:3, NKJV). If you want to hit the bulls-eye every time you pray, your prayers must be based on the Word of God.

You can go boldly to the throne of grace (Hebrews 4:16), by knowing what God’s will is in advance and having it firmly fixed in your heart.

So, the first step to praying prayers that bring results is to locate the promise or promises that fit your situation in the Word of God. Then, like an arrow to a bulls-eye, shoot that prayer with boldness and confidence.

This principle works in any area of prayer. Do you need healing in your body? Don’t pray what the doctor says or what religious tradition has taught you. Pray, “By His stripes I am healed” (see 1 Peter 2:24, KJV). Say, “Thank You, Lord, that You’ve provided healing for my body. Help me to receive it now. I thank You and praise You for it!”

Do you have a financial need? Don’t pray your problem—pray the answer! God has said He will provide for you, so pray, “Thank You, God, that You have said You will supply all my need according to Your riches in glory by Christ Jesus. I call in this promise now, in the Name of Jesus” (Philippians 4:19).

When you focus on the answer, it will activate your faith.

.

2. Pray with Authority

Every Christian has the privilege of using the Name of Jesus in prayer. When you pray in Jesus’ Name, you immediately get God’s attention. Philippians 2:9-10 says, “God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth.” In Jesus’ Name, the believer has authority to “tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy” (Luke 10:19).

When you call upon someone’s name, you are placing a demand on their ability. To know how much confidence you can place in a name, you must be able to measure the power behind it. A man writing a check places a demand on his own name. If he has the proper funds in the bank, then there is enough power to meet the demand. The power backing the Name of Jesus is the power of Almighty God Himself!

First John 3:22-23 says, “And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight. And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment.” The mighty, powerful Name of Jesus is available to you. Become aware of your right and privilege to use it.

God’s love motivates Him to use His power. First John 4:16 says, “And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us….” When you believe the love He has for you, you’ll begin to realize you have as much right to use the Name of Jesus as anyone else. Believe the love God has for you. Once you recognize the reality of God’s love in your life, you will realize He has not left you defenseless and powerless against evil. When you pray, use it freely and confidently in the face of your enemy!

Do you pray with the authority that God has given us? We must always pray with the power given to us by Jesus Christ due to his victory on the cross. The enemy was defeated at the cross! So often we pray whimpy, pleading prayers that sound something like… “maybe if God wasn’t doing something better already, if it wasn’t too much trouble, he might possibly be able to help us out when we were in a bit of a jam….but only if it wasn’t too inconvenient.” It is hard to believe God would honor a prayer that doesn’t even sound like WE believe will come true. We need to pray with AUTHORITY and CONFIDENCE in our Almighty God!

For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. (2 Corinthians 10:3-5)

We need to “take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ”. We need to pray this scripture with authority to destroy the negative self-talk, depression and despair that often gets stuck inside our own heads. This scripture is for us right now! Turn off the news, shut down the social media, and pray to remove the thoughts that are contrary to our knowledge of God. These thoughts are of the world and designed to draw us away from our authority in heaven. We need to be aware and not be defeated. The Bible tells us that as believers we have overcome.

.

3. Pray Specifically

Prayer is not a formula or something that only “works” if we do it perfectly, in just the right way. But it should never be careless. Careless prayers are like arrows that fall haphazardly at our feet. Prayers that we offer with little care or effort typically will do little after leaving our mouths (but be careful about underestimating God). On the other hand, when shot with strength and desire and fervor, our prayers fly swiftly toward heaven to the throne of God himself (Revelation 8:4)

Vagueness can be the death of prayer. Not that we can never be general, just not at the expense of praising God’s specific attributes, confessing specific sins, or thanking him and asking him for specific things. We must learn to pray specifically and boldly due to the status we have through Christ, while simultaneously being completely submissive to God’s will. Bold and expectant faith coupled with humble submission is a powerful thing.

James 5:17-18 says, “Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the earth for three years and six months. Then he prayed again, and the sky poured rain and the earth produced its fruit.

When Elijah prayed, he prayed with laser-like specificity. Elijah prayed that it wouldn’t rain for three and a half years, and it didn’t. He prayed for the widow’s son at Zarephath to be raised from the dead, and he was raised from the dead. He prayed that fire would fall from heaven, and it fell. He prayed that the rain would come, and it eventually came. He prayed with specificity. One reason that we don’t pray specifically is we don’t want to embarrass God, and we don’t want to disappoint ourselves.

But God delights in answering specific requests.

.

4. Pray in Faith

And whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive.” (Matthew 21:22)

The next step in praying effectively is to submerge your prayers in faith. That means you don’t wait for a manifestation to believe you receive—that’s not faith!

This might seem difficult at first, but as you practice applying your faith, it will become a way of life for you. Here are some quick-start tips for adding faith to your prayers:

Believe you receive when you pray.

God’s Word is always true. If He says it’s done—it’s done. So, as you pray, begin to move yourself from believing He can to knowing He will.

Speak It

Start your confession of faith before you see the manifestation of answers to your prayers. Then, hold fast to your confession without wavering. Don’t speak faith one day, then doubt the next. Hold on tightly; don’t let go; and no matter how tempting it might be, speak the Word only about your situation.

Act On It

When the 10 lepers came to Jesus for healing, He told them to show themselves to the priests, and when they went, they were cleansed. They didn’t stand there and wait for Him to do something. They did exactly what He said do. They acted on His word. That is how you apply faith.

.

5. Pray in the Spirit

Many times we are not sure how to pray or even what to pray. We sometimes find that though we are armed with a list of prayer needs, our praying becomes boring, and there is little motivation to pray. The answer is to expect the Holy Spirit to help us to pray and reveal to us what God has prepared for his people

But as it is written:

What eye did not see and ear did not hear,
and what never entered the human mind—
God prepared this for those who love Him.

Now God has revealed these things to us by the Spirit, for the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God. (1 Corinthians 2:9-10)

We need to begin to see prayer as not our work, but as the work of God. Then we can look to our Father to show us through the Holy Spirit how to pray. The Holy Spirit will reveal what we need to pray for, and how to pray. But we need to submit to his leading so that he can help us to pray as we should.

We must allow God to place his desires in our hearts, then wait on the Holy Spirit, he helps us to pray based those desires. Our confidence must not be in our ability to pray, but on the Holy Spirit’s empowerment as he prays through us according to God’s will.

In the same way the Spirit also joins to help in our weakness, because we do not know what to pray for as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with unspoken groanings. (Romans 8: 26, 27).

All believers in Jesus have the privilege of knowing that God hears and answers us. We also have the power of the Holy Spirit who helps us recognize God’s voice, which is always in alignment with the words of Scripture.

.

If you are not sure that you are a member of the family of God, you can accept Christ into your life right now, by praying:

“Lord Jesus, I believe you are the Son of God. Thank you for dying on the cross for my sins.  Please forgive my sins and give me the gift of eternal life.  I ask you in to my life and heart to be my Lord and Savior.”
