In the early 1980s I was an up and coming guitarist in a band working the L.A. music scene. I played all the historic venues: Starwood, Gazzarri’s, Club 88, Madam Wong’s (East and West), the Country Club, Blackies, high schools at lunchtime, roller rinks etc…. You name it, we played it.
Then the time came where we finally played the Whiskey-A-Go-Go. Almost immediately after that the record companies started taking serious interest in us.
