Will You Survive the BOOM When it Comes

Someone said hell is full of people with good intentions.  You have probably heard this saying before.  It’s a good one.  That is pretty much the way it works.  Commitment is not easy.  Any kind of commitment.  It requires an exceptional desire and faithfulness to succeed.  And we don’t embrace new ideas very easily.  And we are procrastinators.  But look what the Bible says about that.  

..for you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night.  While people are saying, “Peace and safety,” destruction will come on them suddenly, as labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape.

This is one of several similar warnings the Bible gives us.  It’s almost like having a car accident.  One day you are fine and the next day you are in hospital.  Or like falling on ice and breaking an arm.  We have all had similar experiences.  And what do we think of?  How did this happen.  If only I didn’t do so and so.  Would have could have should have.  Even though these experiences inconvenienced our lives for awhile, they didn’t destroy us.  This scripture says that Destruction will come on them suddenly.   And who are the them that he is talking about?   Well, look at what Paul says right after that. 

But you, brothers and sisters, are not in darkness so that this day should surprise you like a thief.  You are all children of the light and children of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness.  So then, let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be awake and sober….For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ.

He is telling us that when the day of the Lord comes it will be suddenly for those that don’t belong to Him but it won’t be a surprise for those that have made Jesus their Lord and are ready for it.  No one will have time to think about it, it will just go Boom like a car accident or getting shot.  And this is why we have to be ready at all times because no one knows when the Lord will come.  What I can tell you is this.  The way the world is going it could be any day now.  And scripture confirms that.  So why not get right with God NOW instead of waiting.  Because when the Boom comes you won’t have time to do anything.  You can get right with God HERE so that you can be ready when it happens.
