Prophetic Alert: 40 Days of Trials and then our Victory!

Jonah obeyed the word of the Lord and went to Nineveh. Now Nineveh was a very large city; it took three days to go through it. Jonah began by going a day’s journey into the city, proclaiming, “Forty more days and Nineveh will be overthrown.” The Ninevites believed God. A fast was proclaimed, and all of them, from the greatest to the least, put on sackcloth. (Jonah 3:3-5)

Gazing at the Heavens: Bible Scholar Points to Eclipses During Jonah’s Time and Christ’s Crucifixion CBN, April 6, 2024

Dr. Scott Stripling from Associates for Biblical Research notes, “The ancient people saw celestial phenomena as omens.”

Using a dating system that intersects NASA data with the ancient Assyrian calendar, Associates for Biblical Research says it shows an eclipse passed over Nineveh in the mid-8th century B.C. That event was preceded and followed by a series of natural disasters.

“And lo and behold, what does the Bible show us? A renegade prophet named Jonah shows up and he’s preaching repentance at a time that they would be open to it that normally they wouldn’t because of the omen,” Stripling explains.

Stripling says this same dating method shows a celestial spectacle happening in 33 A.D. on April the 3rd, approximately the same time the Gospels record the earth turning dark on the day of Jesus Christ’s crucifixion.

“Picture this: as the stone is rolling to seal the tomb, on the horizon, the moon is beginning to appear, and guess what? It’s a lunar eclipse. Listen, ancient people would have been powerfully impacted by this,” Stripling emphasizes.

Earthquake interrupts UN Security Council meeting after hitting US east coast BreakingNews.ie, April 4, 2024

A 4.8 magnitude earthquake in the US state of New Jersey interrupted a United Nations Security Council meeting in neighbouring New York City on Friday.

As Save the Children representative Janti Soeripto was speaking on the situation in Gaza, a tremor was felt in the building.

The rare earthquake hit at around 10:20 local time (15:20 GMT) with its epicentre located near Lebanon, New Jersey.

East coast residents in New York reported hearing a booming sound and feeling their buildings shake, while social media users from Baltimore, Philadelphia, Connecticut and other areas of the east coast also reported feeling the quake.

Governor Kathy Hochul of New York posted on X, formerly Twitter: “A 4.8 magnitude earthquake hit west of Manhattan and has been felt throughout New York.

“My team is assessing impacts and any damage that may have occurred, and we will update the public throughout the day.”

In a video message, she warned residents to be aware of aftershocks and said that New Yorkers had not experienced an earthquake of that magnitude since 2011.

Israel Warns Iran Of Massive Regional War If Directly Attacked ZeroHedge, April 5, 2024

With Israel’s embassies around the world on a heightened state of alert, and extra IDF reservists called up, and home and weekend leave for all combat troops having been abruptly canceled Thursday, the Israeli population is anxiously awaiting a response – with some reports saying residents are already seeking the safety of bomb shelters.

Tehran has vowed that vengeance is coming soon for the Monday Israeli airstrike on its embassy in Damascus. Most pundits believe this will take the form of ballistic missiles raining down on Israeli cities. But Israeli leader Benjamin Netanyahu is reportedly vowing that if the Islamic Republic launches missiles from its soil it will ensure “a strong response” from Israel.

Israeli officials have told Axios late in the day that such an act would “take the current conflict to another level” — which most certainly would involve a direct Israel-Iran war and thus the eruption of a broader regional conflict.

Netanyahu informed his security cabinet Thursday that Israel’s forces have already been engaged with Iran “both directly and via its proxies, and therefore Israel is operating against Iran and its proxies, both defensively and offensively.”

A statement issued by the prime minister’s office laid out: “We will know how to defend ourselves and will operate according to the basic principle of whoever is harming or planning to harm us — we will harm him.” The White House has meanwhile issued a statement shortly after Biden and Netanyahu discussed the Gaza crisis, saying “President Biden made clear that the United States strongly supports Israel in the face of those [Iranian] threats.”

There have meanwhile been unverified reports to emerge saying that the CIA has warned Israel to expect an attack from Iran within the next 48 hours, which has also been picked up in Israeli press.

Knowing what disasters will soon happen, we call for a 40 Days for America prayer for the United States, focusing on national repentance starting on the day of the Great American Eclipse. The national prayer will end on Pentecost day, May 19.

Why 40 days?

Throughout the Bible, we see a powerful pattern – God allows His people to endure trials and testing for a season, but on the other side of that difficult period, He brings deliverance and victory. Time and time again, the number 40 represents this time of refining, after which 41 ushers in a new era of promise and blessing.

In the days of Noah, torrential rains flooded the earth for 40 days and nights. But on day 41, the rains ceased and the waters began to recede. Noah and his family emerged from the ark into a washed clean world, ready for a fresh start.

Moses, after killing an Egyptian, fled into the wilderness of Midian where he stayed for 40 long years. But in year 41, God appeared to Moses in the burning bush, calling him to return to Egypt and lead His people to freedom. After the exodus, Moses ascended Mount Sinai and fasted for 40 days, and on day 41, the Lord gave him the Ten Commandments – the moral foundation for God’s people.

The Israelites were sentenced to wander in the desert for 40 years because of their unbelief. And yet, as year 41 dawned, Joshua led a new generation across the Jordan and into the Promised Land that flowed with milk and honey. Their time of testing complete, they entered a new season of blessing.

When the Philistine giant Goliath taunted the armies of Israel twice a day for 40 days, the people cowered in fear. But on day 41, a shepherd boy named David confronted the giant in the name of the Lord and felled him with a single stone. David’s victory ushered in a new era for Israel.

Jonah reluctantly preached to the wicked city of Nineveh for 40 days, declaring that God’s judgment was imminent. On day 41, the Lord saw how the people turned from their sin and showed them mercy, much to Jonah’s chagrin. Repentance brought redemption.

Even Jesus, after being baptized by John, was led into the wilderness by the Holy Spirit to be tempted by the devil for 40 days. Weakened in body but strong in spirit, Jesus resisted Satan’s wiles. On day 41, angels came and ministered to Him, and He began His world-changing ministry.

Finally, in the greatest 40 of all, after Jesus’ resurrection, He appeared to the disciples and many others over a period of 40 days, encouraging them and preparing them for their mission. On day 41, He ascended into Heaven, having completed the work of salvation.

Are you in a season where you feel like quitting? Does it seem like the trials have gone on far too long? Take heart, my friend. Just as God was faithful to Noah, Moses, Joshua, David, the Ninevites, and even His own Son, He will be faithful to you. You’re not forgotten. Weeping may last for the night, but joy comes in the morning.

Your 41 is coming. The floodwaters will recede. The giant will fall. The Promised Land awaits. Don’t lose hope now. Victory is on the horizon. Trust in the Lord, and see that He is good. Your 41st day will soon be here.

Heavenly Father,

We come before you to lift up the United States of America. In the beginning, you commanded us to “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it.” (Genesis 1:28) We pray that as a nation, we would fulfill this original mandate – to be good stewards of all you have entrusted to us and to fill this land with your glory.

Your word promises that in the last days, “the mountain of the house of the Lord shall be established as the highest of the mountains, and shall be lifted up above the hills; and all the nations shall flow to it, and many peoples shall come, and say: ‘Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob, that he may teach us his ways and that we may walk in his paths.‘” (Isaiah 2:2-3) We pray for a great spiritual awakening to sweep across our land.

We ask for your wisdom and guidance over the key spheres of influence in our society. May the media communicate with honesty and integrity. May our government leaders humble themselves and seek your face. May our education system teach truth and train up the next generation in righteousness. We pray for a strong economy and that businesses would operate ethically. May our churches boldly proclaim the Gospel. We ask that the arts and entertainment would celebrate what is pure and lovely. And may our families be strengthened to love you and one another.

God, we declare that “Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD.” (Psalm 33:12) May the United States turn to you.

In the mighty name of Jesus we pray, Amen.
