REINFORCEMENTS HAVE ARRIVED!   40,000 people crossed the Bosphrous bridge into Istanbul to join the Taksim Gezi protest.  Yesterday the police attacked the protesters and park killing 2-3 people and wounding 300 more.  A call went out for help and solidarity and it looks like that call has been answered.

This is a statement put out by the protest movement this morning.

‘ Attention! Turkish democracy needs you!

After a series of peaceful demonstrations for preserving a recreational area in Istanbul city center which is planned to demolished for the construction of a shopping mall, Turkish police attacked the protesters violently with tear gas and water cannon, directly targeting their faces and bodies. Dozens of protesters are hospitalized and access to the park is blocked without any legal basis. Turkish media, directly controlled by the government or have business and political ties with it, refuse to cover the incidents. Press agencies also blocked the information flow.

Please share this message for the world to become aware of the police state created by AKP of Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, which is often considered to be a model for other Middle Eastern countries. Turkish democracy expects your help. Thank you! ‘

Witness says ’1000s of people in Ankara closed off the protocol road, marching to protesters all night long toward the parliament building.’ Earlier reports emerged of the protests and tear-gas having spread from Istanbul’s Gezi to the capital Ankara. Protesters also witnessed at two locations in Izmir, according to social media pictures. Thousands are currently reported to be marching towards the Parliament.

Thanks. Please be careful of the western media propaganda machine to give it all a spin saying the protesters wants Islamic Sharia Law or something of that sort

The image of the bridge is not from today. It is from a marathon in the past. Here is a link to an article of that event from the same vantage point. http://www.todayszaman.com/newsDetail_getNewsById.action?load=detay&link=224683

You really can’t say for sure. That is probably the vantage point used for all photos of the bridge. At any rate, 40,000 people is a lot of people.

Yet this country wants to join the EU!

I cannot believe that this is all about demolishing a park?! That is some screwed up government! I’ve seen very little about it on MSM.

My thoughts too. Don’t know the lingo, but the lady with the bullhorn (in the middle of the night?!) sounds like she’s chanting political hoopla. This may be some kind of last straw for the locals. Or… perhaps it is …

A diversion by political factions to get Turkey’s attention away from it’s involvement in bugging out Syria with their bigger mates on Syria’s borders?

Historians usually ascribe the smaller events as kickoffs to bigger things. This may be nothing in the end. Or it may be the beginning of a bigger something.

I’d watch how it affects Turkey’s involvement in aggression against Syria. The people groups in the Middle East are very complex. Borders don’t necessarily mean kinship or shared language. Big border changes occurred with the demise of the Ottoman Empire after WW1.

Turkey’s current govt. has Israel’s best interest at heart for the moment.

After 1462, the fall of the Eastern Roman Empire. The Muslins secured all adjutant countries. They offered one of two choices to the population, Convert to Islam or die.

Turkey was to be the anvil, Spain the spear to conquer all of Europe. Because of Charles Martel did not quite work out for them.

The Turkish population is composed of Eastern Europeans, Greeks, Turks, and Arabs. The Arabs have only held nominal control. That is the reason the other factions were able to create a secular government. The Arab Muslims are now trying to reassert control and seem to be succeeding. This is the primary reason they should not be in NATO.

They also export most of the Muslims to other European Nations. You know how that is working out.

The Turkish people want to keep a secular government but are losing ground. Looks like obama is going to win this one.

Don’t forget to put the Doenmeh (secret jews) on the ethnic list of Turkey.
