AMBUSH: 2 Cops KILLED, shooters ESCAPE

~~Details are sketchy and police have not yet confirmed the death of the officers, but sources within the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department say the officer and another were shot and killed by a man and a woman who approached them as they ate lunch at the CiCi’s Pizza at 309 N. Nellis Boulevard at about 11:20 a.m.

 One officer was reportedly dead at the scene, while the other died later in surgery. Both were assigned to the Northeast Area Command.

 Witnesses told police one yelled “This is the start of a revolution” before shooting the officers. The shooters then stripped the officers of their weapons and ammunition and went into the Walmart at 201 North Nellis.

 One unconfirmed report is that the two exchanged gunfire with a citizen who was carrying a concealed weapon, and that one of the shooters was injured. Police confirm that at least one civilian at the Walmart was shot and killed.

 At a news conference at about 1 p.m. Assistant Sheriff Kevin McMahill said the male shooter, described as a tall white man, yelled “everyone get out” before shooting.

 Both shooters were reportedly carrying large duffle bags, and a bomb squad was called to the scene.

“He came in, shouting, ‘The revolution is about to start,’ something about a war, and that the cops were on their way,” Galindo told the Los Angeles Times, adding that the man then fired one shot in the air and another shot as he moved toward the left side of the store.

 Galindo and Harper said the man appeared to be by himself, though police initially said there were two suspects in the store.

 The attacker or attackers shot and killed one person inside before going to the back of the store and disappearing as police arrived, McMahill told reporters.

 Outside, police were already swarming. Bustamante said he saw one motorcycle officer dump his motorcycle in his haste to get inside. One police officer got inside the store, then came back out to tell everyone outside to get away.

“If you know the cops are scared, then you know it’s dangerous,” Bustamante said.

 Alize Harper, who had been selling newspapers, added: “You don’t think this kind of thing can happen. It’s a Sunday, you’re selling newspapers, and all of a sudden a man walks in and starts shooting up a Wal-Mart. What is going on here?”

Police were working quickly to get an answer after they gained control of the scene, and bused away witnesses for police interviews.

 A tall white man who described himself as the manager of the Wal-Mart, Jason, declined to speak with the media.

.

 A woman asked him if she could give him a call later Sunday evening, and he replied, “I don’t think I’m going to be going home tonight.”

.

Metro asked for any available off-duty officers to work Sunday afternoon. Patrol squads were doubling up so each officer would have a partner, sources said.

 Several lanes of traffic near Nellis and Stewart Avenue are closed. Nevada Highway Patrol is also on scene.

UPDATE: CNN is reporting the two officers were Alyn Beck and Igo Solo. Witnesses to Las Vegas shooting told police one shouted “This is the start of a revolution’ before shooting officers in the face.”
