Everything in the old testament has to do with Jesus. First of all, He is God, the Second Person of the Blessed Trinity (The Word)and He created EVERYTHING. Secondly, after the fall of Adam, He offered Himself to the Father to sacrifice Himself for Adam’s sin and ours. Everything in the old testament led up to this sacrifice, which is the climax of human history. We owe everything to Our Lord Jesus Christ. How dare anyone imply that He is not relevant to all things? He is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Any religion that does not acknowledge His reign, is a false religion. And there is only one religion that He founded and that is the Roman Catholic religion. Everyone who wishes to save their souls will seek it out. There are good priests in the world but they are not always easy to find. Look among the traditionalists.

Catholicism was founded long before the time Jesus supposedly lived. Therefore you are totally incorrect when you claim that Jesus founded the Roman Catholic religion. I have read the Bible cover to cover several times, no where does the Bible describe how Jesus founded any religions. Many books in the new testament tell how there was a following of people, even masses of followers, but other than Holy Communion, I fail to see how what happens in a typical Catholic church is related to anything in the Bible…or anything that Jesus spoke of…

@pix Jesus was speaking directly to the certain ruler as you call him. He wasn’t addressing everyone in the world but you twisted the words to suit your own understanding just like many other people you make it say what you want it to say rather than was was really said, this is a big failing of religious people.

The real meaning of Jesus addressing the rich man as he did was because the rich man already claimed righteousness, already claimed he had fullfilled the law, so Jesus gave him the real test, the complete giving up of everything to follow him, and he went away sad, because he was a hypocrite, like the majority of so called Christians and even like you, you wrote that crap and i already know that you haven’t done what you are preaching to others, which makes you a hypocrite just like the rich man. The Roman Catholic Church claims to have started in Matthew 16:18 when Christ supposedly appointed Peter as the first Pope. However, the honest and objective student of the Scriptures and history soon discovers that the foundation of the Roman church is none other than the pagan mystery religion of ancient Babylon.

While enduring the early persecutions of the Roman government (65-300 A.D.), most of professing Christianity went through a gradual departure from New Testament doctrine concerning church government, worship and practice. The Roman Emperor Constantine established himself as the head of the church around 313 A.D., which made this new “Christianity” the official religion of the Roman Empire. The first actual Pope in Rome was probably Leo I (440-461 A.D.), although some claim that Gregory I was the first (590-604 A.D.). This ungodly system eventually ushered in the darkest period of history known to man, properly known as the “Dark Ages” (500-1500 A.D.). Through popes, bishops, and priests, Satan ruled Europe, and Biblical Christianity became illegal.

Throughout all of this, however, there remained individual groups of true Christians, such as the Waldensens and the Anabaptists who would not conform to the Roman system.

Here is a quick breakdown on how believers vs non-believers see the debate. Believers have their faith, and when presented with factual evidence that refutes the foundation of that faith, they fall back on “everyone is entitled to their own opinions”. So, we have faith and opinions.
Faith is a solid unshakable belief in something for which there is no evidence. This is something I have found fascinating since I was a little kid, bear with me please. Feel free to re-read that sentence on faith, and I will proceed with something that works like kryptonite on believers, LOGIC. Although I should mention that usually when faced with logic, believers retreat to the opinion sanctuary. Faith equates with no evidence, if there were ANY evidence, there would be absolutely no need for any faith, for there would be, KNOWLEDGE. To claim that God concealed His existence to test our faith is a loop of utterly illogical crap. Opinion and perception as you put it Nim, is again all about a lack of information.
Nim, what do use for eyes and a brain? Do you know what The Reformation was? Do you know who Martin Luther was, and what he did? Do you have any idea how many of the traditions practiced by the catholic church are directly in violation of God’s own words in the Bible? (Of course by this I mean, words attributed to God as relayed through His vessels and Prophets) Have you any clue as to the true nature of the catholic church, the vatican, and the pope? No, you could not, otherwise you would never have said the things you did.
The contempt you detect is from reading hundreds, thousands of comments left by people just like you who have no clue as to what they speak of, but they have opinions. Jesus was never a man who walked the face of the earth, however he smiles his grace on us everyday. Jesus is the Sun, God’s Sun, the Light, The Way, and God is not Zeus. Jews and Christians are fools, Islam is evil, and religion is false. Nothing but a tool of control for weak minded fools who refuse to take the responsibility to become educated, and stay informed. How can a God that knows EVERYTHING, is ALL POWERFUL, AGELESS and TIMELESS have an epiphany? How can an entity of pure intellect, have a sudden realization, or change His mind? How does the One True God of Adam and Eve go from being a spoiled brat immature God of vengeance and retribution, who, when He does not get His way, kills everything with floods and plagues, sends sinners to hellfire and brimstone to agonize, FOREVER and EVER, ( I cannot even begin to conceptualize that length of time, let alone pain and anguish for all eternity), to a God of eternal Love tolerance and forgiveness, who goes as far as to create a vessel of His love for us unworthy humans He chose to love so much, and gave us His only begotten…How can a God change His very being? How did God go from being Zeus scorned to being George Burns?

I had to stop watching as soon as the presenter began talking about whether or not a particular site was the real place where Jesus was crucified. Please, Jesus never existed. He’s mythological and amongst many things he represents the sun. He is a solar Messiah. Jesus also has a two fold nature representing the true nature of man. There is Jesus and the Christ. Flesh and spirit, and he is also the Vessica Piscis of Sacred Geometry and manifest and the unmanifest. God and man!

I am interested in religions and their hidden meaning. The fact that Jesus wasn’t a real person doesn’t make the religion invalid and unworthy of comment. I’m interested in Greek and Egyptian mythology too. Horus, Isis and Osiris didn’t exist as real Gods on Earth, but the Egyptian Masters who created them hid in the stories about them eternal truths, sacred knowledge that would only be obvious to the initiated and those prepared to chip away the outer meaning to discover the hidden secrets in-between the lines and encoded into the stories.

When I posted my original comment I hadn’t intended to start a discussion although it is kind of you to offer your help.

Christians believe that only through Jesus Christ may an individual find salvation, and therefore it is a kindness to convert non-Christians in order to save their souls.

To answer your question though, I’m not searching for any hidden meaning. I have already found it, after nearly 15 years of intensive research. I am a writer and I have been working with a small team of researchers on a book that I hope will be available early next year.

Can I say with 100% certainty that Jesus never existed? Well, let me just say that everything, absolutely everything I will be writing about in my book is a fact and my readers will not be required to ‘believe’ anything. I will not be expressing my opinion like Richard Dawking, I will be writing about hard facts.

Just like mathematical theorums require their proofs, so too does what I am writing about, and I assure you there is proof a plenty.

I don’t want to take away anyone’s belief system and so at the beginning of my book there will be a warning that if you are religious and rely on your belief system for support in your life then please do not read this book.

If you have a totem pole at the bottom of your garden and you want to believe that it is God then I am happy for you to do so and if it enriches your life then that’s a good thing. If you want me to believe the same thing then I will need some proof.

I’m going to tell you something you will probably enjoy. God exists, there is no question about it. What’s more the proof exists too, you don’t even have to believe! The proof isn’t a clever philosophical argument, it’s rock solid, like mathematical proof.

The trouble is, when I tell people God exists they immediately think of the God their religion teaches them about, and that’s where they go wrong. Religion is man made and designed to conceal, or, reveal only slowly to the chosen ones when they are ready.

There is a supernatural force in the universe that created all matter and life. Many of us feel this, without a church teaching us anything, we can sense it, love it, and experience it providing feedback to our hopes and dreams.

Many thousands of years ago, tens of thousands of years ago, man began to search for evidence of God. Surely if there is a God, and God created the earth there might just be something left behind. A clue perhaps, or the fingerprint of the creator.

Well, God’s fingerprints were found a long time ago. In fact they are all over everything. You can hardly open your eyes without seeing them if you know what to look for. The thing is, this particular knowledge was kept secret and was shared only by those that felt they were worthy.

It would take a book to tell the whole story but essentially this divine knowledge is so awesome, that to guard it for the chosen few, secret societies emerged that cloaked themselves in mysticism and religious veils.

The knowledge was written down but in such a way that only initiates of the order would see it. These religious texts spoke of Gods and told stories about them, but they were allegories concealing an unwritten truth or knowledge. In this way these texts had exoteric knowledge (the literal story of the birth and life of the God perhaps) that everyone could participate in and the esoteric knowledge that was only seen and understood by the initiates of the order.

The Egyptian Horus is one little example of allegory. Horus never existed, he was just part of a story of a God, but allegorically Horus was the Sun, and specifically the rising sun. Horus lived in the East and was triumphant every day when the sun rose. Even to this day we get, Hours and Horizon, from the word Horus.

Allegorically Jesus Christ represents many things, but not everyone wants to know. I know Christians who have told me that they would prefer only to know the literal tales of Jesus and believe that he really existed.

But the truth is far richer than the literal story. Remove the mythical man/God and understand what the story is concealing and you really have opened a door, and through the story of Jesus, passed through the allegory and entered the Kingdom of Heaven — Divine Knowlege / Sophia.

And unfortunately this will have to be the end of the discussion. I don’t really have the time to continue. I am after all writing a book! For anyone who reads this thread I will leave you with something, for those who may want to know more. Begin by reading The Jesus Mysteries by Timothy Freke and Peter Gandy and their other book Jesus and the Goddess.

But know that both of these books provide only enough information to begin the journey of enlightenment.

Next, I would humbly suggest, study the Fibbonacci Sequence, The Golden Mean, also known as the Divine Proportion.
