Christian Organizations Rush to Help Hurricane Sandy Victims

This is not the story you’re expecting. I’m upset about the Christian organizations that use the opportunity of Hurricane Sandy for self-promotion. I’m not surprised because it seems to happen every time there’s a disaster.
I spend a lot of time looking through news websites, usually about 30 a day. Today I found eight stories talking up the disaster relief efforts of Christian non-profits. So why is that so bad? The stories appear to have originated from the ministries themselves. You can find the original versions on the ministries’ websites and on a so-called news site that charges hundreds of dollars to tell its clients’ stories.
What about Jesus’ words on the Sermon on the Mount? ” Take heed that you do not do your charitable deeds before men, to be seen by them. Otherwise you have no reward from your Father in heaven. Therefore, when you do a charitable deed, do not sound a trumpet before you as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory from men.” (Matthew 6:1 – 2, NKJV)
It may be argued that these Christian organizations are just trying to raise funds for their efforts. I don’t think that qualifies for breaking Jesus’ command. It would be better to do like George Mueller, who ran an orphanage in England in the 1800s. He never asked anyone for money, except God, who supplied his needs.
Oh yeah, I can think of one other instance of someone using Hurricane Sandy to promote his cause. I ran across a story by an occultist suggesting that Nostradamus predicted our current disaster. It sounds like the writer may have taken a cue from prominent Christian ministries on how to promote his cause.

You should not be judging the motives of Christians organizations doing God’s command to love their neighbor and to help the needy in times of crisis. Your writing is too generalized and does not mention not one single Christian organization by name and you have no proof that they have questionable motives. This is a clear example of persecution against Christians in the U.S.
You take one verse of the Bible to support your position, but left out the most important one which is the second commandment left by Jesus Christ himself to love your neighbor.
We live in a physical world and I’m sure you don’t expect Christians to provide assistance in a ghost form so their charitable deeds cannot be seen by men. I wonder if God is happy with your critical view about His children’s deeds and true motives.
Please let God be the judge of motives.
