People have forgotten we were warned that there is "another gospel" which has no power, for it preaches "another Jesus" that cannot save. How do you know your Jesus is the right one?

Despite Paul’s warning to Corinth church that some would come “preaching another Jesus … another gospel,” most professing Christians are absolutely positive that they know who Jesus is, never even considering scripturally proving that their “Jesus” is the same one Paul preached about. However, in light of Paul’s warning of “another Jesus,” we would do well to examine our “Jesus” in the light of the “holy scriptures” while earnestly seeking the help of the Holy Spirit to illuminate them “to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus,” (II Timothy 3:15).

II Corinthians 11:4 – For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him [who brought the gospel unto you].  5 For I suppose I was not a whit behind the very chiefest apostles.

Absolutely Jesus was, and is, called the “son of God.” However, the word “son” was not intended to infer He would be God’s descendant, or offspring, such as we have offspring. For from the beginning the word was prophetic of the child’s gender which God promised would be born. Back when Adam chose to sin in the garden, the Gospel went forth as God promised a deliverer would come; a “seed” would be raised up through the woman that would bruise the head of the serpent (the devil), and the serpent would “bruise His heel” (Genesis 3.15). A “man child” would be born.

Jesus Christ is that “seed” and “man child.” A “son” that could only have been of God, for as foretold the child would be born of a virgin; making Him the prophetic “Son of God.” Nevertheless, while this child’s conception was entirely the predetermined plan and accomplishment of God, men would still call him a “son of man,” (although no earthly man took part in His conception). The phrase “Son of man” is merely a Jewish maxim, a phrase intended to testify of one’s humanity, as it is used by God and angels toward Ezekiel ninety-three times. With Christ, “Son of man” continues to testify of His humanity; that He in fact was “born” a man.

Hebrews 2:14 – Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, He also Himself likewise took part of the same; that through death He might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; 15 And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage. 16 For verily He took not on Him the nature of angels; but He took on him the seed of Abraham. 17 Wherefore in all things it behoved Him to be made like unto His brethren, that He might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people.

Just as Isaiah foretold, “a virgin” conceived and brought forth that prophetic “seed” that would “bruise the head of the serpent.” As both Isaiah prophesied and the angel Gabriel told Mary, this child would be called “Immanuel… which being interpreted is, God-with-us.”

Isaiah 7:14 – Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

Matthew 1:18 – Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as His mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost…  21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call His name JESUS: for He shall save his people from their sins. 22 Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, 23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call His name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

Isaiah 9:6 – For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon His shoulder: and His name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

Isaiah 43:10 – Ye are My witnesses,” saith the Lord, “and My servant whom I have chosen; that ye may know and believe Me, and understand that I am He [the child to come]. 11 Before Me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after Me. I, even I, am the Lord; and besides Me there is no saviour. 15 I am the Lord, your Holy One, the Creator of Israel, your King.
