Is an ancient manuscript that claims Jesus married REAL? Study of ink used in papyrus suggests it could be authentic
A study of the ink used in the ‘Gospel of Jesus’ Wife’, an ancient papyrus that hints Christ was married, could reveal it is authentic.
Written in ancient Coptic, the papyrus reads: ‘Jesus said to them, ‘My wife” and ‘…she will be able to be my disciple.’
Some have used this to prove Jesus was married instead of celibate – a view which could undermine some of the Church’s main teachings.
Since its discovery, historians and religious leaders have attempted to both prove and deny the artefact’s credibility.
But a new study of the papyrus’ ink has undermined the document was written by an author who forged another papyrus.
The text was first shown to the world in 2012 Harvard Divinity School professor Karen King.
The collection of documents, which were given to Professor King anonymously, immediately caused a stir.
At the time, a furious Vatican newspaper dismissed the find as a fake.
One editor, Giovanni Maria Vian, wrote a stinging piece entitled ‘At any rate, a fake.’
Last year, carbon testing on the papyrus seemed to suggest it was written between the fourth and eighth centuries and was therefore authentic.
Now, researchers at Columbia have conducted new tests on the ink used on the papyrus which may confirm the papyrus is genuine.
The team are saying little about their results until the study is published.

The question: “Are you smarter than a 5th grader?” has been answered.
Resoundingly.
“No”.
Doesn’t even qualify as as story. filled with rag sheet buzz words….
“could be” “suggests” “could reveal” “could undermine”.
Keep gazing at those ‘stars’….maybe one will fall and you can wish upon it….
And it “could” “might” “possibly”
come true.
In contrast, for those who wish to study facts in light of Truth, rather than questionably motivated guess ‘work’….

Good Journeys
Written between the fourth to eighth centuries makes it legit…!!!!!??????? Just about as legit as the RCC and even their crazy ruling later on stating priests could not marry…. because they sure were married for several centuries… from fourth century to about twelfth(?) century. So some how, the RCC which did not exist until the fourth century has a voice in the matter…. typical!!!!! We are suppose to believe testing done by government controlled scientists…..hmmmmmm. The theft of many scrolls as well as artifacts from Jerusalem were taken to the Vatican by the Knights of Malta or Knights Templar. Since the secular world has pretty much annilated all evidence about Jesus… now they want to declare he was married. I say make the Vatican open their library and research the stolen Jerusalem scrolls from when Jesus was alive…. not 350 years later. Many of us are aware of and tired of the mind games.
The short answer is yes, it’s genuine. More genuine that the 4 anonymous gospels that made into the bible at least.
To be fair, Pix, all these test can prove is the relative time period, in which it was written- nothing more. It’s a non-story, really. It’s old. So what?
I told you, – I told you so! And you didn’t believe me. :/ that’ll show you to ignore the evidence!
