Exodus 20; 13

THEN GOD ISSUED this edict:

 “You shall not make yourselves any idols: any images resembling animals, birds or fish. You must never bow to an image or worship it in any way, for I, the Lord, your God, am very possessive I will not share your affection with any other god.”

Pick a category…any category.

We worship money, the stuff it buys, the people that make a lot of money, science, the earth, parents, friends, other people we know and don’t know, designers, musicians, actors, athletes, ministers, teachers, boyfriends and girlfriends…..

You name it, we find a reason to be a “fan” ( short for fanatic) none of it is real. It is distracting to our real purpose, our spiritual journey, it keeps us busy with mindless, stupid stuff instead of seeking God and His Truth.

 

His Truth is that we are each and every one of us are unique and miraculous creations of God and He wants us to love Him as He loves us or at least try.

Stop the nonsense.

Look to God for everything that we need and want.

YOU shall not use the name of the Lord your God in vain.

      You SHALL NOT use the name of the Lord your God in vain.

   You shall not use THE NAME of the Lord your God in vain.

   You shall not use the name OF THE Lord your God in vain.

You shall not use the name of Jehovah, your God irreverently nor use it to swear to a falsehood. You will not escape punishment if you do.

A simple change. Show some respect. Clean our language up. Clean our thoughts up. Why would we risk it all for this? What do you choose?

    1/7thof our time here to relax, chill, rest, enjoy ourselves, appreciate God’s gift of life. This day to step out of our hamster wheel of modern day slavery, re-evaluate what is important, re-assess how much imaginary money means to us and how much material stuff that we need. This day to recognize how much of our life we waste mourning over what we don’t have today and what we think we need and what we obsess over getting tomorrow. This day  to Love one another, to take time to appreciate the gift of love, spend time with those that we love, to realize God gave us all of this, to realize everything that God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ have done for us, to realize what is waiting for us to accept including the gifts of faith and the Holy Spirit’s gift of comfort and communication, to see the flowers, the sun, the landscape, the sparkling snow, the brightly colored leaves of Fall, to have a cook out, to walk in the park….to get as close to God and His original Eden experience as we can get in a world and a life that we have created for ourselves.

HONOR your father and mother

Exodus 20;12

 Honor your father and mother, that you may have a long good life in the land the Lord your God will give you.

Even if our parents were terrible abusive people, we should choose to respect them as fellow human beings that made terrible mistakes. If we want to enjoy the privilege of moving past our own mistakes we have to recognize that right in others including our parents. We need to forgive for our own benefit. We need to be respectful of others because that is who we choose to be. No one can earn our respect. They already have it as God’s unique and miraculous creations. HOWEVER, we do not have any obligation to agree with their choices of evil and pain and do have obligations to God NOT to. We also

 

have an obligation to heal in God’s Truth and God’s Way and rise above and anger, hate or anything negative inspired by the pain others cause, even if that is our parents. How long will we let the evil acts of others control us and cause us pain by separating from God. Each person has their own problems to deal with. We need to define ours and give God the POWER. Even if your parents were cruel to you, honor them as fellow human beings and their struggle with a life without God. This is God’s will, for Him and for you. You deserve the peace that forgiveness brings His children.

We deserve a walk like that. God’s Way… God’s Light. 

C-6

YOU shall not murder.

You SHALT NOT murder.

You shall not MURDER.

Respect all life. All life.

 

      Defending ourselves or those that can’t defend themselves does not count as murder. We have the right to defend ourselves. When we get stressed and emotionally hurt we might wish people would just go away as in vanish…as in dust in the wind. Well, wishing people weren’t here may very well fall in this category. Trying to destroy the hopes and dreams of others to live God’s way might be in the same venue. We know that it separates us from God and His gifts to even think such things. If a Godless person truly makes us miserable, just walk away or pray for the freedom to do so. Don’t murder mentally, financially, spiritually or physically.. just don’t. Pray for them. Know this…

 

1 John 3;14-16

     If we love other Christians it proves that we have been delivered from hell and given eternal life. But if a person who doesn’t have love for others is headed for eternal death. Anyone who hates his Christian brother and is really a murderer at heart; and you know that no one wanting to murder has eternal life within. We know what real love is from Christ’s example in dying for us. And so we ought to lay down our lives for our Christian brothers.

DO not commit adultery.

  Do NOT commit adultery

Exodus 20;1,4

                                                        You must not commit adultery.

 

   Adultery is sex outside of a Christian marriage. That would be a Christian marriage between one man and one woman. This is two (2) people that love God and each other with all of their heart, mind and soul. Sexual intimacy is a gift of love and a souls sharing experience between the husband and wife as they have become one.” Even if we are single and dating, it is still adultery. This is not just about extra-marital affairs. Just because everybody wants it and wants it their own way, doesn’t make it right by God. Don’t we see? Would we give a beautiful vacation in a Tropical Paradise to someone that would be in a drunken stupor and never even know that they were there? Would we give a beautiful seafood dinner to someone who just wanted a lunch meat sandwich and would never appreciate it? We don’t give these things to people that we know that they would waste { abuse, not appreciated at all}. So when we ask for anything real…the best from God…we must think…what are we doing with the gifts He has already given us? ‘

DO not steal.

Do NOT steal.

Do not STEAL

 

Exodus 20;15

                                                                    You must not steal.

 

We can’t steal anything…ANYTHING. Not one penny, not someone’s happiness, not someone’s time and life here on planet earth. We are not to steal a thing…NOT ONE…GOT IT? 

 

MARK 7;20-23

And then he added , “ It is the thought-life that pollutes. For from within, out of men’s hearts, come evil thoughts of lust, theft, murder, adultery, wanting what belongs to others, wickedness, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, pride and all other foIly. All of these things come from within; they are what pollute you and make you unfit for God.” said Jesus Christ

 

   Pick a category…any category…one way or another it is all stealing. The one thing many people don’t think of; they are stealing God’s child from God by choosing to separate from Him and think these thoughts and do these things and that child is us,,ourselves…you know the one in the mirror?

God wants us…God loves us…hasn’t He done enough already? Think. 

 

C-9

DO not lie.

Do NOT lie.

Do not LIE.

 

Exodus 20;16

You must not lie.

 

 Who cares if everyone else is doing it. Who cares! We are not allowed to lie. If we feel that we can’t or we shouldn’t speak the truth then SHUT THE HELL UP! It is hell that we would speaking if it’s a lie. Hell on earth is what we are responsible for… not heaven. Paradise doesn’t want liars! That is not a lie. God can’t lie and won’t set us up for failure by not telling us what is expected out of us. We have to choose not to lie…to be His. 

 

1 John 2;4-6

Someone may say,” I am a Christian; I am on my way to heaven; I belong to Christ.” but if he doesn’t do what Christ tells him to, he is a liar. But those who do what Christ tells them to, will learn to love God more and more. That is the way to know whether or not you are Christian. Anyone who says he is a Christian should live like Christ did.

 

MATTHEW 19;17 “

When you call me good you are calling me God,” Jesus replied, ” for God alone is truly good. But to answer your question, you can get into heaven if you keep the commandments.”

 ” Which ones?” the man asked.

And Jesus replied, ” Don’t kill, don’t commit adultery, don’t lie, honor your father and mother and love your neighbor as yourself. This man already loved God, and Jesus Christ.

 He had to give up his money( his idols) and wouldn’t in the next verse. So he was willing to do commandments 1,3,4,5 ,6,’7 ,8,9, possibly 10 but…#2 he wouldn’t do. Christ isn’t lying and setting us up for failure. We are to follow all of the commandments. Keep trying…keep the faith and ask for more faith…it is a gift.

DO NOT BE envious of your neighbor’s house, wife, or possessions.

Do not be ENVIOUS of your neighbor’s house, wife, or possessions.

Do not be envious OF YOUR NEIGHBOR’S house, wife, or possessions.

Do not be envious of your neighbor’s HOUSE, WIFE, OR POSSESSIONS.  

 

Exodus 20; 17

You must not be envious of your neighbor’s house, or want to sleep with his wife, or want to own his slaves, oxen, donkeys, or anything he has. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Get it?

We aren’t supposed to want a lot of material stuff anyway.

We aren’t supposed to choose man-made, man-imagined money over God.

It is one or the other.

We are supposed to be happy if we have enough to eat and a shirt on our back.

Just because we call this ‘keeping up with the Jones’ doesn’t mean that it is any less than it is. God knew that this envy and quest for money and stuff would be a choice that would separate us from God.

When Christ told the man that he was speaking to in MATTHEW 19;17 about the commandments to follow he left out this one, # 10, at first.

Then he held his feet to the fire about number 10.

MATTHEW 19;21-22

” I’ve always obeyed every one of them.” the youth replied. ” What else must I do?” Jesus told him, “ If you want to be perfect, go and sell everything you have and give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come and follow me.” But when the young man heard this he went away sadly for he was very rich. Then Jesus said to the disciples.  It is almost impossible for a rich man to get into the Kingdom of Heaven. I say it again- it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of God!”

So everybody that is mad at the rich… are just people choosing to be envious of what they have.

BUSTED!

Everybody that is rich and chooses to keep their money while others suffer is dumping the 10^th commandment, too.

BUSTED!

Why, WHY. WHY are we screwing ourselves out of eternity with God, with Christ, over imaginary money and the stuff it buys? Why?

                    

 

C-11

JOHN 13;34-35

 

“AND SO I AM GIVING A NEW COMMANDMENT TO YOU NOW. LOVE ONE ANOTHER AS                                                                                     MUCH                

                                                             AS I HAVE LOVED YOU.”

                                                               SAID JESUS CHRIST

 

 If we truly did this would all of the others be automatic? We would never want to hurt someone we love, right? We would want them to be happy, right? If we really loved like Christ loved us.
