Three steps on the path to Eternal Life.
- What Good News is it?
Never in the history of the world has there been such a stupendous, supersonic intervention, like God’s, in Jesus Christ.
How humbling for humanity.
How incomprehensibly awesome.
How ponderingly, WHY?!
And then knowing, from his own mouth, that it was not to try and save the righteous, from sinners presumably ….. but the sinners themselves – from themselves.
God becomes man does not show the utter debasement of God.
But rather the worth in Gods eyes of man once saved from sin, his own sin.
The incarnation of God as man must give us pause to reflect how much God feels about his own creation.
At the same time we must not do nothing in response, because then his intervention becomes of no avail to us. And what a tragedy that becomes, not only in our own eyes, but in Gods eyes as well.
God gave the Ten Commandments.
But mankind did not become aware of them outside the Israelites, until Christianity spread the good news to all the world.
It was Christ who brought them home to us.
Christ died (and lived) that we might be activated to live, through and in the Ten Commandments.
It’s as simple as that.
He not only died but he rose, lives in us and guides and comforts us on our journey of living by obeying the Ten Commandments.
That’s what it’s all about.
There is nothing more to Christianity than that.
Nothing more is added, yet nothing is removed. Not one iota.
2. The devil is at work at all times, in all places, to ruin souls.
Not just on an individual level but on a global scale.
There is no limit to his evil intentions and he is only restrained by the power of God, but only to the extent that mankind and each individual soul merits his protection, by not sinning.
When you sin you open the door to the evil.
This is the danger you find yourself in so it becomes not just an individual misdemeanour but an invitation to worse sin and an enslavement to sin. The consequences are great therefore and can lead to your eternal perdition, even for little sins.
That is why Christ says in the gospel “You must be perfect, as your Heavenly Father is perfect.” ….. and the devil says through the world which is filled with sin … “No one is perfect.”
Who listens to God?
Who listens to the devil?
Therein lies a further demonic trap for souls.
Yet the devils admonition is repeated ad nauseam whilst the precious words of your Saviour are ignored.
Do not leave it until it is too late.
Be concerned NOW for your eternal salvation.
3. The Holy Life.
This centres not on anything unobtainable by any person, but on love, which is the natural predisposition of EVERY person.
We must all strive therefore to love as Christ loves us.
He gives us the gift of love.
We must therefore exercise it to the fullest extent of our being. Nothing less.
We are commanded by God to place Him at the head of our lives. This requires love.
This is the first commandment.
This allows us to love others and to seek only to love, nothing else.
When we do love, as Christ loves us we open the gate of Heaven. We fulfill our total Christian duty. We transform earth.
We lift up souls and we transform lives to fit the Heavenly Kingdom. We save others through our love and then they save others.
We are human and we fail.
Failure is a part of life.
But redemption consists of repentance which is always followed immediately by forgiveness which is then followed by renewal.
This is the Christian life.
This is the Holy life Of God in our souls.
This then is the path to Eternal Life.
