In the 70′s someone bought me a cassette tape of Jesus Christ Superstar. I was an atheist at the time but I loved the music so I played it a lot. Along with the tape came a pamphlet with all the words to the songs. This was my first introduction to who Jesus was and what he did. I was amazed…..why did they kill him? He only helped people, healed people, fed people, taught people. Why? He did nothing deserving death. This puzzled me for quite some time and then I found out why he died. He did it for Us. He paid our debt. And he did it Voluntarily.
I still find this incredible but what also amazes me is this. Seventy eight times Jesus said “I tell you the truth…” and then he went on to tell the people what he was going to tell them. Seventy-eight times. But even until today many people don’t believe him or believe in him. But wait…..this was no ordinary man working out of his garage. No, this was the Son of God. He healed the blind, the lame, the cripple. He walked on water. He fed 4000 with a few loaves and a few fish. He changed water into wine. He healed the sick. He raised the dead. He did countless miracles. No one else even today can do any of these things. Yes, he was the Son of God. And he told us the truth. But what do many people do about it?
