It was just on May 8 that former Ambassador Thomas Pickering, co-chairman of the State Department’s Accountability Review Board, criticized those who accused the Obama administration of a cover-up in the Benghazi scandal.
“I think the notion of a quote, cover-up, has all the elements of Pulitzer Prize fiction attached to it,” Pickering said on MSNBC.
He rebutted claims his review board tried to protect former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in the way it conducted its investigation.
“I saw no evidence of it,” he said. “She did publicly take responsibility for what happened below her and indeed one of the things the Congress did in preparing the legislation that established the Accountability Review Board was to say we don’t want a situation where heads of agencies take responsibility and then nobody who made the decision in the chain has to suffer any consequences for failure for performance. I believe in fact the Accountability Review Board did its work well.”
But wait just a minute.
Only a few days later, on Sunday, on “Meet the Press,” even Pickering was scampering for the tall grass, saying his review only looked at what led up to the Benghazi attack with an eye toward security concerns. He said the review board did not examine the spin that followed the attack. In other words, all the changing talking points, after the fact, were not part of his review.

a nice accounting of the circumstances involving pickering in this article. however, i take issue with a subtle misdirection made by joseph farah at WND in defining the term “cover up”.
“..So how could he have said a few days ago there was no cover up, which, by definition, is what occurs AFTER an attack, if his investigation didn’t look into that?”
of course, this is in the context of reference to statements by pickering, but..
to me this is just another effort to maintain the circumstances of the benghazi cover up within the confines of statements and actions following the attack.
the cover up is not merely that of what occurred after the attack. not by any means, although the media and the government are trying desperately to relegate benghazi to politics, ultimately dismissing the true nature of what has been actually occurring.
as written in a previous comment:
every aspect of benghazi is inherently a cover up as events occurring before, during, and after, bear out.. a multifaceted cover up that spans far more than the attack itself and all of the events centering around that attack.
what is being attempted here, is an effort to isolate the benghazi event from a much larger ongoing scenario to which benghazi is intrinsically linked.. much in the same manner that this article attempts to extract a few points as being the core of the scandal.
the ongoing scenario is so large, that every effort is being made from all sides to keep it in the realm of the abstract.. cracking benghazi open gives everyone a peek into the realm of the concrete.

i should note that within that comment, “this article” actually refers to one from forward progressives.
but that point does not change the gist of what i am saying.
the cover up is an ongoing one that began long before the benghazi attack even took place.
many are now aware of what that involves.. the “arab spring”, the killing of gaddafi, the LIFG, FSA, arms, saudi arabia, syria….. and who is behind it.
Wait until they go to jail for liying to Congress. They do not know how to tell the truth. I hope Congess does not role over with their lies.
