ACLU Petitions Removal of #OfficerGoF--kYourself from Duty in Ferguson, MO Protests
The ACLU has petitioned Col. Ron Replogle of the Missouri State Highway Patrol to remove from duty an officer the internet has now dubbed #OfficerGoF–kYourself (of course the f-word is spelled out in the hashtag). This stems from an incident occuring last night after several journalists tweated descriptions and videos showing a Law Enforcement officer armed with an M4 variant assault rifle pointing the weapon at journalists and screaming that he would kill them if they did not back up. When asked for his name he responded with “Go F–k Yourself” which has led to Twitter now identifying him as #OfficerGoF–kYourself.
The “Pride” of MO State Law Enforcement – A true Public Servant thinks he has “godlike” authority and we are ants that can be crushed without consequence.

Isn’t the ACLU suppose to be about freedom of speech no matter who says it?
The officer is acting as an official of the state. His freedom of speech was being used to restrict the 1st Amendment rights of a citizen. The state is Constitutionally barred from doing so. His “freedom of speech” infringed on a citizen’s right to free speech and is thus unconstitutional. Secondly, his provocative actions constitute AT MINIMUM, criminal battery. If I acted as he did, I would be charged with that crime and probably more. Secondly, if this individual was not a cop, but rather a “commoner” like the rest of us and he said and did the same things, I would have been within my rights to exercise the 2nd Amendment as well and shoot him in self-defense.
