mother Cathy, with son Ryan

Lee Michael, 34, was jailed for 24 weeks on Tuesday for hitting a puppy so hard a chunk of her jaw was knocked out, and cruelly mistreating a cat which later died.
Wirral Magistrates heard Michael had changed his name since he, as Lee Khair, had been convicted of manslaughter for killing his two-year-old son Ryan Franklin-Khair in Dorset in 2002.

Ryan’s mother, Cathy Jacques, of Blandford, said she was “shocked” to hear the news on Tuesday evening.
“I went online and saw his face everywhere, and I had trouble sleeping that night,” she said.
“I wasn’t shocked at the violence. He is violent, he is twisted.
“It was shock at his face staring back at me.”   In 2003 Michael, then 22, was sentenced to seven years in prison for causing Ryan’s death, after a trial at Winchester Crown Court.
The jury heard he was looking after the toddler at Mrs Jacques’ home in Blandford when the boy was found by paramedics at the bottom of the stairs with head injuries and extensive bruising. He died in hospital two days later.
Former soldier Michael was released after serving half of his sentence and soon changed his name. He has been working in fitness in the Wirral area.

The judge said the case had ”chilling echoes” of the attack on Ryan.
Mrs Jacques, 40, has previously criticised Michael’s sentence for her son’s death, saying he should have received a life term.
“This case indicates I was right all along, he should have had a longer sentence,” she said.
“The people in charge of the justice system need to listen to the victims’ families, we know a lot about these types of people, they do go on to re-offend.
“I am also worried that he can change his name, people in that area won’t know what he has done.”
In court on Tuesday, Michael, of Lower Thingwall Lane, Thingwall, was banned for life from keeping animals, ordered to pay £2,423 costs and undergo 12 months supervision after admitting five counts of causing unnecessary cruelty to animals – a pug puppy called Babs and a cat called Larry.

RSPCA Inspector Anthony Joynes said the case involved “stomach-churning” cruelty.

“I feel we have only revealed the tip of the iceberg of events and we will never know exactly what poor Larry the cat went through in its ordeal and final moments,” he said.
“However, I am proud that we have managed to save the puppy – now called Ruby, who is now getting the love, care and attention she deserves in a new home.”

I am Ryans Mum, Cathy. This scum needs stopping in his tracks. I said at the time of killing baby Ryan, he would do this again, and he has, only now on an animal. Lee has stories all over the internet this week in different papers of which people have shared and he is all over social media. If anyone wants to share this o social media please hashtag #justiceforryan to get his face ALL over this country. He is DANGEROUS and I really need people to remember his face. He WILL kill again and I fear it will be another child. If we can do everything in our power to stop this then we have all done one good deed. A petition is just pending right now also on Government website to stop convicted killers and paedophiles being able to change their name upon release from prison. This will be live soon. this evil man needs stopping. Sleep tight my gorgeous Ryan and thank you everyone for your support. Cathy (Ryans Mummy)

I am the Grandfather of Ryan Franklin. What he did to that poor puppy is a mirror image of what he did to my Grandson. Inflicting a grevious injury and then delaying medical treatment. Ryan was taken firstly to Poole Hospital, where the Doctor who made the brain scan, informed me that the injury had happened at least 6 hours previously. While the Head Surgeon at Southampton Hospital informed me that had Ryan been taken to Hospital immediately, he could have been saved.

This is an outrageous miscarriage of justice – to kill a child and be freed after 3 years? who thought that one up? surely whichever judge is responsible for that perversion needs reprimanding, if not sacking entirely. I pray this character reaps what he sews tenfold for all the misery he’s caused everywhere – and then ten-fold again! Surely this criminal should be locked away forever – with no more “slaps on the wrist” from ridiculously lenient and inept judges who have no idea how to act. How many more times does this character have to prove he’s a menace to society and is clearly unfit to be in it? Lock this madman away forever lest he murders another innocent party again. What will that judge say then? My condolences to the mother of the poor child, and everyone else who has had the misfortune to have to deal with this psychopath.

If the Tories get their way this type of case will not get to court as they intend to remove the RSPCA’s right to prosecute animal cruelty cases. Of course nothing to do with Cameron’s desire to bring back blood sports and extend the badger cull.

I fear that rehabilitation for the likes of this man is rare. It is a fact that an individuals character is formed at a fairly early age and once set is difficult to change, hence the repeat offender. It may well be appropriate for some offenders to be released at the halfway stage. However for offences involving violence perhaps full length determinate sentences should be the norm. I have said on more than one occasion that sentencers have to follow sentencing guidelines, that the public can access on line and is worth a read as it shows the processes involved in sentencing, and not following the guideline will result in an appeal which is likely to be successful.

Why is this man not locked up indefinitely????? He contributed to the death of a poor innocent child, and still now continues to torture other defences lives- it won’t be until he has killed something or someone again that the courts will see he’s a serious threat!!

7 years for killing a child aged 22……not hard to draw the conclusioj he would go on and do something else. Bit the Bulger killers. Anyone who has been convicted of a crime should not be able to change their name in anyway and if they do they should be held in contempt of court.

I couldn’t agree more with the comments that Mrs Jaques made in the article. Seems ludicrous that such a violent man should be given a short sentence for the manslaughter of an innocent two year old. Then he gets let out early and is obviously not rehabilitated. A civilised member of society does not punch animals or torture them to death. If he is capable of all that cruelty it makes me worry what will happen next.

put this piece of filth down- preferably very slowly and painfully

It’s a bit of a habit this killing of others that would not challenge him . A very dangerous individual . He needs a serious look at in terms of his sentencing . I don’t think this will be the end of it . Can’t understand why it’s not plain to see !!

I’m so, so sorry for your loss. Nobody should ever have to watch a family go through anything like that.

Psychopath. Likes torturing and killing the defenceless. Should be locked in a secure hospital for life.
He looks a healthy human though, maybe he could be put to some use and used to test new drugs on, instead of animals?

boby 1:14pm Sat 3 Oct 15

Maybe a petition and an immediate review of this thing should be called . To kill your own son !!!!! Will not be long before another innocent person will be added to his collection for Christ sake this country wake up

This person has obviously never developed empathy. The worst thing that could happen to him would be for him to develop it now, then he would spend the rest of his days in mental torment of what he has done. And there would be no escape from that. I wish him empathy.

A Cat/Dog is Bad, but is Definitely a Pre-requisite to doing it to another Innocent Person like he did in the past, to his Own Son.
Dorset Police are Under Budget but they MUST keep their eye out for this guy & ensure he is not an immediate danger, as we All know HE IS!!!!!!!!!!!
Scum like this deserve to die in prison!!!!

What monster! He should be locked away for life. Those who commit acts of cruelty and violence on children and adults frequently started their ‘career’ in brutality on defencless animals. I hope the prison fraternity exact appropriate revenge. I cannot think of any punishment bad enough for this evil man. catfan What monster! He should be locked away for life. The police are never there when crime happens, they will not protect you. The deterrence that the threat of a lengthy prison sentence affords is not there. The legal system offers no redress for victims, seemingly offering protection for the perpetrator. The police force and legal system need to be dismantled, then rebuilt with justice as a priority. Sack the overpaid clique who infest what has become a gravytrain helping many a talentless sop into the millionaires club. They protected Saville etc. but will do nothing to help you! 7 years for murder? What an absolute joke. The bloke is a nut case and needs to be in a mental hospital indefinitely or sent to the usa and put down.

This thug should be put away for life. He doesn’t seem to realize the seriousness of his acts.
