As communications technology continues to make leaps and bounds, collaboration is rapidly becoming the base on which good enterprise communications systems are built. The business value offered by Online Web Conferencingsolutions today is improvingly rapidly, and it is being driven by mobility enhancements, robust video conferencing, and better user experience. Moreover, the reducing prices of these solutions has piqued the interest of more customers, and an increasing number of people are now expanding deployments and using Online Web Conferencing more frequently than before.

This particular market research analysis gives Online Web Conferencing providers a detailed look at the current market dynamics and the changes that are occurring in the Online Web Conferencing marketplace.

Between the third quarters of 2010 and 2011, the Web Conferencingmarket revenue shot up by 21 percent. Out of this 21 percent increase, SaaS-based systems like RHUB Online Web Conferencing appliance were responsible for 83 percent of the sales revenue.

This data, which was provided by Synergy Research Group, was accompanied by other surprising figures. For example, the research group also found that SaaS-based service sales had surpassed the $400 million mark in each of the last three quarters.

The largest market for Online Web Conferencing solutions at present is North America. The country makes up for more than 60 percent of market revenue in the third quarter of 2011, according to Synergy’s study. Cisco, which has long been the industry leader in this market, continues to dominate even though its market share fell slightly during Synergy’s research period. The company’s sales account for 51 percent market revenue in North America and 41 percent in the world.

Another 25 percent of the market share is held together by Citrix and Microsoft. These three companies have one thing in common- they sell through channel partners. As companies concentrate on going global and business travels get more expensive and time-consuming, Online Web Conferencing has become increasingly popular. These applications are now becoming the norm for conducting worldwide business meeting according to researchers at Synergy, and they predict that annual revenues from SaaS-based conferencing applications will double in the next five years.

Another recent study on big web meeting,eLearning, and video space vendors has shown interesting results. Big growth is expected in these areas in upcoming years, and some are them are given below:

1.       The overall training and education market for interactive virtual whiteboard solutions is expected to grow from around $886 million in 2009 to around @1.9 billion in 2014, with an annual growth rate of around 17 percent.

2.       The overall training and educational market for Online Web Conferencing is estimated to grow from around $678 million in 2009 to $1.16 billion in 2014 with an annual growth rate of around 11.5 percent. The 2009 figure represents around 38 percent of the total Online Web Conferencing market, which clocked revenues of around $1.7 billion.

3.       Interactive virtual whiteboards will become increasingly popular despite some variations in segments and geography. Higher education and corporate training sections have received this technology positively to some extent. Primary and secondary education in particular has been a big adopter, especially in the UK, where government-led initiatives led to placement of technology in 98-100 percent schools.

4.       Other countries to adopt this technology aggressively include Japan, New Zealand, Australia, Nordic Countries, and China. North America, however, has not been consistent in adoption. Canada has shown strong adoption, but the same cannot be said about Mexico or the U.S.

      Hi,

Great article and very well researched. It’s amazing to see the trajectory of web conferencing and elearning, as they will doubtless have an increasingly important role going forward. Have you ever tried Mikogo for web conferencing? It’s used frequently for both business and education. Give it a try and let me know what you think.

      Thanks!
