Outlook Android App Download Available Now From Google Play Store

There is no shortage of email service providers on the internet these days, but there are some providers that have always been above the rest. Take Gmail for example. It entered the email arena quite late as compared to Yahoo! and Hotmail but these days it is one of the most widely used email platform around the world. Hotmail has seen its popularity decline over the past few years and Microsoft has done quite a lot to counter that.

Seeing as how Hotmail was losing clout on the internet, Microsoft recently released Outlook.com, which is a fresher and much more appreciated replacement of Hotmail. Users have signed up for it in uncountable numbers and Microsoft is looking to capitalize on that. They have now released an official Outlook Android app for the millions of Android users out there with Outlook.com email accounts.

Microsoft is well aware of the success that Outlook.com has been receiving ever since it went online, and it is adamant not to let it slip through its fingers. The company has announced that this new service has surpassed the 25 million user mark. To commemorate this huge milestone, Microsoft has rolled out some new changes to the web experience of Outlook.com. This new Outlook Android app has also been released as part of the updates being rolled out after the 25 million user milestone.

Many would think that the Outlook Android app won’t be successful on Android given how every Android user is required to have a Google Account if they want to access the Google Play Store. Outlook faces stiff competition from Gmail when it comes to Android users, but it seems like Microsoft believes it can create a substantial dent in the clout that Gmail has over millions of loyal Android users around the globe.

The Outlook Android app features push notifications, meaning that you get your email messages the moment they come in your in box. Users also have the option to sync their calendar and device contacts, view and sync standard and custom folders, including sub-folders, send, receive, and view photos and other attachments and use the app with multiple Outlook.com accounts. Users can choose to truncate messages to display headers only or the entire message up to 100KB.

To install Outlook Android app on your device, ensure that it supports Android OS 2.1 – 2.3.3 and 4.0 – 4.1. The app is available as a free download from Google Play Store.
