Samsung unveils new waterproof, rugged Galaxy Xcover 2
With about a month to go until Mobile World Congress raises the curtains on a new array of smartphones, Samsung has already made an early announcement and presented the Galaxy Xcover 2, its new and rugged looking smartphone that comes packed with GPS and GLONASS. Its target audience is the young adventurer that is in all of us. It can be carried under water and is water resistant up to a depth of one meter where it can hold its breath for 30 minutes. Add to this a 4-inch WVGA display that can beam out Android 4.1. Fans can also expect to see the same Motion UI features on other Samsung devices soon. This will give it the ability to overturn and mute incoming calls. Power will be supplied by an as-yet unidentified 1GHz dual-core processor, while a 5-megapixel camera will be perched on its back. A physical camera button will also make sure that you manage to shoot all your favourite underwater exploits.
Samsung has also said that the Xcover 2 will incorporate a Cardio trainer Pro workout app. It has not amplified the hardware to support this. The company is tight lipped about where the device will be launched and made available. Or how much one can expect to be set back in order to be a proud owner. But then, Barcelona beckons in a few week’s time and surely all will come to light then.
