According to HTC its phablet is so rowdy that it needs an escort to keep it in order. With an eye firmly on user convenience it is therefore suggesting that users give their tired hands a rest and they pair it with an NFC/Bluetooth-enabled sidekick. This will allow them to use their phones without actually using them. But on the flip side is the fact that it will constitute additional baggage, a second device that you need to have around, take care of and keep charged.
This additional device being touted is the HTC Mini and it is being made to ride piggy back on the 5-inch Butterfly in China. It can be used to make calls, see notifications, calendar entries and stuff like that. It’s just like on the phone but instead of doing so on the Butterfly’s big, beautiful 1080p interface, users are being required to squint into a tiny square on a device that resembles a portable landline phone.
So why is this good? It seems that the HTC Mini is not just a phone but also fills in as a remote for the Butterfly when it’s connected to a TV. It also has an embedded “Find My Butterfly” type feature to be put into use if you have misplaced your 5-inch smartphone. And then it also acts as a shutter trigger for the Butterfly’s camera.
So for all those fans who believe that two heads are better than one they can opt for this super smartphone. By purchasing the Butterfly in China they will get two devices for the price of one. One can see how there would be a market for such a redundant product. More the merrier.
