Remote Wipe, Lost Device Tracking And More Comes To CyanogenMod With CyanogenMod Account

CyanogenMod is one of the most popular custom ROMs for Android and for good reason. It’s a great custom ROM to replace the bloat filled crap that carriers and manufacturers shove down our throats as well as even stock Android. But CyanogenMod in particular has started going above and beyond in the custom ROM world with special features. One such feature is the outfit’s new camera replacement which saw an in-house Google Photosphere like feature written from the ground up. And now, things are getting more serious.

Today, CyanogenMod detailed CyanogenMod Account and its new features. For starters, there’s a lost device finder that works much like the recently released Android Account Manager. Another feature: remote device wipe. Several other features are planned in future releases including the ability to send secure text messages and forum integration.

Sounds great, right? But if for some reason you don’t want to make use of CyanogenMod Account, you don’t have to. Of course, that’s the great thing about Android and custom ROMs in general. There’s plenty of choice left up to you, the user.

Look for CyanogenMod Account to start making its way into nightlies in the not too distant future.
