NoWait Consumer App – Pittsburgh Beta Announcement
NoWait, the iPad based wait list and seating management tool that is currently being used by thousands of restaurants across the country, is now launching a consumer-facing app. The new NoWait app is now live in beta in Pittsburgh. NoWait allows Pittsburgh-area restaurant goers the ability to view the real-time wait time at their favorite restaurants and get in line remotely, right from their phones.
When a patron views restaurants on NoWait, he may select the restaurant and get in line. NoWait automatically sends a message to the guest confirming that he has been added to the wait list, and the patron may then view his place in line within the app. The place in line updates in real-time as he moves closer to the head of the line.
The app balances the real-time wait with the travel time required to arrive at the restaurant, giving the restaurant assurance that the guest has enough time to arrive before the host recalls this guest to be seated via text message. Guests that are too far away (i.e. could not arrive before their time to be seated happens) are required to travel closer to the restaurant before being added to the wait list.
NoWait does not book a reservation for the guest, but adds them to the current wait list and requires that the guest check-in with the host upon arrival. Typically, participating restaurants are able to seat guests within 5 minutes of arrival, thereby reducing waits from up to 90 minutes down to 5 minutes for hungry guests wishing to dine.
So far, initial response to app testing in Pittsburgh has yielded a 97% approval rating, with most guests remarking that NoWait is an indispensible feature for restaurants.
